Seira

I felt my body relaxed while listening to the sound of waves touching against the sand. It’s kinda hot that even though I had my eyes closed, I can imagine the sun shining so bright on the sky above me. Perhaps it’s already near noon, but I really don’t have the energy to get up right now.

“Still not up, sleeping beauty?”

Those words immediately made me open my eyes. The first thing that I saw was that familiar pair of eyes, so close to me that it seemed bigger.

“Oh, wait. Would the nickname Ariel fit you better?”

“Who the hell are you?” I asked him as I pushed him away from me as hard as I could. I sat up and felt the fine warm sand beneath my hands and feet. Judging by the tickling I can feel, there are also some stuck inside my shirt.

I looked around. We were in a what seemed to be a shore, and we’re under the shade of old and tall acacia trees.

“Your knight in shining armor, who else? Are you okay now? How’s your head? You kind of hit it on-- never mind.”

I stared at him blankly. He stood in front of me with his back against the sunlight, making it hard to look at his face. All that I noticed is that he was wearing a white polo with blue and black floral designs in it, a black shirt beneath it, and white shorts.

He really looked like a tourist.

“Aren’t you going to take me seriously?”

He kneeled in front of me with his one knee, probably trying to level himself with me. That’s when I was able to see his face clearly. His brown hair was disheveled, with the tip of his bangs slightly reaching his eyes. His pointed nose and thin red lips forming a sly smile makes me want to throw any stone near me at his face. And his eyes... they’re staring right at...

I looked down to my chest and then back at him again. I immediately covered them with my right hand and grabbed the nearest thing I can throw to him with the other.

“W-whoa, okay fine! I-I am not looking at.. t-that, you know!” he said after dodging the stick I just threw him. I stood, walking back away from him as much as possible while still keeping an eye at him. “Tss, is this how you thank someone who saved your life, princess?”

 “I am not a princess.”

“ Well I figured that out when you pushed me like I was some sort of a maniac and threw a stick at me as if I was a freaking dog,” he brushed up his bangs with his right hand and sat on the sand.

I tried to ignore that statement of his, grabbed another piece of stick near me and stood while aiming it at him. He instinctively stood and covered his face with his hands. “H-hey! Aren’t you aware of similes? You look like a smart one, though.”

“Where are we? Why am I with you? Who are you?”

“I will answer you if you throw that stick away and talked to me calmly,” he said. I stared at him for a while, and when I figured he was really serious, I just did exactly what he said.

This is not my plan. I’m supposed to be gone right now.

“There. You look less scary—okay, chill.” He chuckled as I acted to get the stick again, though I have no idea why, and he started to walk towards me.
