Kenma: "I got him ready as a character in the very beginning of the manga. He was always someone really different from the rest, and it was fun to draw him."

Kuroo: "He was also ready in the beginning of the manga, but only when I got to draw him as a kid from the 30th volume did I feel, Huh, so that's what kind of a guy he is."

Yaku: "If you share your concerns with him, his answers are somehow way off the mark. And in the end he will definitely just recommend muscle training."

Lev: "He's a "I wanna stand out" kind of a character, feels like he's going to end up in Hollywood movies."

Yamamoto: "At first he was supposed to be like Tanaka's next of kin, but they got more and more different as the story progressed."

Kai: "I wanted him to be kind of a healing character."

Q: Which character was the most fun to draw?

A: Kenma. Because he's the least obsessed with volleyball (and we don't have many characters like that).

Q: After third-years graduate, does the team get a girl manager?

A: Yes, I think they got one that saw Spring Tournament.

Q: Whose job choice were you troubled with the most?

A: Yamamoto. I couldn't decide whether he'd pursue volleyball or not. When I recalled the Sarukawa match, I thought that he might.

Q: Please tell us the reason behind the characters' names.

A:
Kenma: "So that he's always improving."

Kuroo: "So that he stays both strong and cheerful."

Yaku: "So that he can protect what's important to him."

Yamamoto: "Grandfather named him so that he would become a brave person."

Inuoka: "So that he can make his best efforts to help other people."

Lev: "So that he becomes a strong person."

Kai: "Got a kanji from mother."

Fukunaga: "Got a kanji from grandfather."

Shibayama: "Live and be kind."

Tamahiko: "Got a kanji from grandfather."
