03 - You Should Know The Road You're Going Down.

Kookie has been living in Taehyung's house for about a week now. His wounds are pretty much healed now and he's physically healthy. His mental state however, is a very different story.

A week had passed and he hadn't had any other flashbacks after that first one. Atleast Kookie thinks it's a flashback, a memory, cause the alternative would be that he's hearing things, which would make him a crazy person as well as a one with amnesia.

Kookie is damn frustrated cause he actually expected to get his memory back within few days. That's what the doctor said anyway. But a week had passed and he is still at the same place he was, not knowing his own name.

They have done the basic tests and his brain seems to be functioning properly. The doctor suggested to go a hospital few towns over and do a proper scan, just to be sure, but Kookie doesn't want to. Mainly, because he has no money and the procedure is quite expensive.

Kookie already feels terrible that he's practically living off of Kim family and even though Taehyung has repeatedly told him that it's ok, Kookie knows he's being a huge burden. He's a total stranger.

He may not have a choice but to live there as he has no other place to go but he will not make them pay for medical procedures too. He's planning  to find a job the moment his physical wounds are fully healed.

Taehyung on the other hand, is liking the company very much. He had lived alone for few years so a companion is very much welcomed. Kookie is like a child in many ways as he doesn't remember,well, anything. He's curious about the world and relies on Taehyung for even some day today activities.

They were currently having breakfast. Kookie seemed to be liking pancakes a lot so that's what they were having.

"So, I was thinking.." Taehyung started and Kookie looked up from his plate. "Maybe you would like to go out after breakfast today? You know, get to know the village a bit. You've been cooped up in this house all this time."

"Really?? I would love that Tae. But are you sure it's ok? I don't won't to bother you. Well, more than I'm already doing." Jungkook looked excited at first but then, his smile fell.

Taehyung gave a smile at that and didn't reply. He had probably said million times that Kookie is not a bother but he could also understand.

Kookie felt a tug at his heart for that smile but it's the new normal for him. Kookie is used to having his heart skip one or two beats at times, all day long, courtesy of Kim Taehyung and his charming visuals.

"You have something. There." Taehyung suddenly said as he pointed to Kookie's face.

"Uhh.. here?" Kookie brushed the side of his his face with his fingers.

"No. Here." Taehyung said again and tapped just to the side of the lips on his own face.

Kookie tried to wipe the same area on his face but evidently he failed, cause Taehyung reached over the table to do it himself.

"Just let me-" Taehyung locked eyes with the other man and his hand involuntary stopped about two inches away from Kookie's face.

They held each other's gaze for few seconds. Taehyung didn't know whether to proceed or withdraw his hand so he just stayed there, frozen.

Kookie felt the oh so familiar heat rushing to his face again and he was sure that he must be looking like a tomato. But the other's hand was still in the air so Kookie tentatively put his face forward till he felt Taehyung's  finger tips slightly touching his face.

That seemed to have shaken Taehyung out of the trance he was in cause he immediately cleared his throat and gently brushed Kookie's face to get rid of the food residue there.

"Ehemm.. n-now ok." Taehyung stuttered as he sat down on his chair again.

"Thank you" Jungkook stuttered, equally flustered.

"Aww... isn't that adorable?!"

Both Taehyung and Kookie snapped their heads towards the sound to see Jin and Namjoon standing with amused faces.

"Hyung!!" Taehyung exclaimed as he abruptly got up from his chair. "I didn't knew you were coming today."

Jin raised his eyebrows at that and Namjoon gave a low chuckle.

"Well, we will make sure to inform you prior to visiting from now on, Tae. Trust me, I'm worried about what I might see here too." Jin said with a mock seriousness and Taehyung groaned in response.

"Hyung please!" Taehyung said in a reproachful voice as he noticed Kookie's face getting redder by the second.

"Alright.. I was just joking." Jin said with a smile and sat down on the table. "We are here for serious business actually."

Taehyung looked at Jin and then at Namjoon who had already made himself comfortable on the sofa. "Serious business?"

"Yeah. We thought about going to police station today and try to see if we could have any way of figuring out who Kookie is. But only if you are comfortable with that Kookie." Jin said as he gave a soft smile to the younger.

"You think they will have information?" Kookie asked with a hopeful look and Taehyung felt a little uneasy at that.

Of course he wanted Kookie know who he is but at the same time, he might leave once he got to know.

"It might not be successful, I don't want to get your hopes up but at least we could give it a try and see." Namjoon explained in a kind voice and Kookie gave a nod at that.

"Sure. I'll go get changed." Kookie gave a smile and went to his room to change.

Jin on the other hand, was looking at Taehyung with a piercing gaze. Taehyung tried to avoid it for few seconds but let's face it, there's no such thing as avoiding Jin.

"What?" Taehyung tried to sound indifferent but even he could hear the shakiness of his own voice.

"Nothing." Jin replied with a shrug. "Just wanted to make sure you know what road you're going down, Tae. There's a chance you might not end up where you wanna go."

Taehyung didn't bother answering. Yes, that's exactly what's bugging him. They know nothing about Kookie's life. For all they know, he might have a significant other to go back to.

Kookie came after about 5 minutes and they all came out of the house. As they were walking to the vehicle, Kookie stopped Taehyung with a question.

"Uhh.. Tae?"

"Yeah?"

"About going out today, to see the village, you think we could still do that? After the police station of course." Kookie asked in a tentative voice and Taehyung felt his heart ease up a bit.

"Sure, Kookie. We can still do that."

Kookie gave a smile and looked down, but not before Taehyung could see the blush that's crept on to his face. Taehyung sighed inwardly. Wherever it might end, it's already too late to stop going down this road.
