The Sound Of Silence/Fall On Me

Later that night, Branch, Poppy, and Max were all resting in their sleeping bags. They were only a day away from Bergen Town, but Max said that they should continue tomorrow and get some sleep so that they can have more energy.

They all put down their sleeping bags and started drifting off to sleep.

"Good night, Branch." Max said to his older brother.

"Good night, Max." Branch replied.

"Good night, Cooper. Good night, Smidge. Good night, Fuzzbert. Good night, Satin. Good night, Chenille. Good night, Biggie. Good night, DJ. Good night, Guy Diamond. Good night, Creek." Poppy said to her pictures of her kidnapped friends.

"And good night, Poppy." The boys said annoyed.

Then Poppy's hug timer went off.

"Don't. Even. Think about it." Branch said sternly.

Then Poppy mocked Branch and hugged her knees as she looked up at the starry night sky and started to sing.

"Stars shining bright about you..." She sang.

"Really? Seriously? More singing?" Branch asked, waking up.

"Yes, seriously!" Poppy replied.

"Look, Branch. Singing helps Poppy relax." Max stated, still laying down and not looking at them.

"Exactly. You guys should try it." Poppy suggested.

"I don't sing, and I don't relax. This is the way I am, and I like it. I also like a little silence!" Branch snapped before laying down on his bag again.

Poppy then grabbed her lute before singing while being joined by a lot of bugs.

Poppy and Other Creatures:

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

Branch got up and asked Poppy for the lute. Poppy handed it over smiling because she thought he was going to sing. Branch smiled at Poppy before throwing the lute in the fire and climbed on his sleeping bag. Poppy just watched the fire before going to bed herself.

Once Poppy and Branch were fully asleep, Max woke up and quietly made his way away from the camp sight. When he got to another small clearing, he started to sing.

Max:

Sooner or later, the lights up above

I don't know what's right for me, I cannot see straight
I've been here too long, and I don't wanna wait for it

Meanwhile, with the Snack Pack, they were sleeping inside Chef's fanny pack, except DJ Suki, who was wide awake. She was looking at the starry night sky, starting to miss Max. She can sense him singing to her, so she decided to join him.

DJ Suki:

The walls are all shattered, I'm back at the start
And I'm willing to follow this wherever it goes
The heart has its reasons that nobody knows

Unknown to Max, Branch was behind him listening to the song.

Max and DJ Suki:

"Hey, Max. I heard you singing." Branch said.

Max gasped then turned around in surprise as Branch asked, "What are you doing up so late?"

"Oh, I just couldn't sleep. Sorry if I woke you up." Max apologized.

"It's fine. Worried about DJ Suki?" Branch asked.

Max nodded. "Yeah. We've been best friends ever since the day we met. I think I'm in love with her too. Sure, she may be crazy, weird, and all, but it's all those I love most about her."

Branch sat next to Max. "You two are pretty close, huh?" Branch asked.

"Well, yeah. Everyday we'd play together. Laugh together. Eat together. Party together. I don't remember us being apart. That song you heard, it was very important to us. Whenever one of us felt sad or scared, we would always sing that song together. It represents that we would always be there for each other." Max said.

"All the more reason we have get to Bergen Town and save her and the others." Branch said.

"Yeah. I just hope we're not too late." Max whispered.

Branch put his hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Max. We will save them."

Max smiled and hugged his brother. "Thanks, Branch, for being there for me when DJ Suki couldn't."

Branch said, "You're welcome. By the way, I thought back on what you said before you and Poppy left. You were right; a real friend would be there to help no matter what."

Max smiled. It's nice to have his brother coming with him on his mission.

"Come on. Let's get some sleep, we got a big day tomorrow." Branch suggested.

"Good thinking." Max responded as they went back to the camp and laid down in their sleeping bags, and then he said, "Good night, Branch."

"Good night, Max." Branch said as he fell asleep.

Max took out his picture of DJ Suki and put it down next to him.

"Good night, DJ Suki. I'll be there to find you." He whispered.

Back at the fanny pack, DJ took out her own picture of Max while laying down.

"Good night, Max. Hope to see you soon." She whispered back.

They soon fell asleep, with dreams of each other.

A/N: Wow! That was the best Muki moment I ever made. By the way, Muki is the pairing name for Max and DJ Suki. They will be together eventually.
