Jo wondered between the rooms of the kids and Alex all night in the ICU, waiting for one of them to wake up. Meredith took Eve home, so she could get some rest after the day she had, and every so often, Jo would walk down to the main desk to check on her patients' vitals and the interns who had taken them so Jo wouldn't get stressed. It was a new intern class and they were much better then Schmidt's class knowing his class were robots with very little surgical skills, but Webber and Bailey taught and trained them up to be some of the best ; obviously not better then Jo and Grey, but they're pretty good.

"Hey." A hand rested lightly on Jo's shoulder, and took her out of the trance of staring at the patient tablet.
"Mer. Hi. Sorry."
"Are they doing any better?" Sorrowful looks dawned across Meredith's face, it felt like someone was going to die and she could always tell about death and when it was going to occur.
"No. Stop looking like that. No one is dying. They're all stable for now. Why are you here? It's late."
"Jo..." Meredith took a pause and turned, looking at the big Grey Sloan Memorial Windows that shone a big, arising sunlight through them. She was shocked. She leaned over the desk to grab the tablet again to check the time. 7:48am. Wow, she hadn't slept a wince all night, and didn't even notice.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Grey and Wilson both got paged simultaneously. It was to the ICU. They sprinted through the corridors of the 4 walls they saw all day everyday, until they reached the unit. No one was rushing. No one was getting a crash cart. Nothing. Instead, laughter came from Alex's room. And it was his contagious laugh, that followed with that crooked smile of his.

The two friends walked around the corner, panting for air to see Arizona and a group of the oldest, most faithful nurses, including Bokhee, and surrounding Alex's bed. He instantly noticed Jo's dark brown hair and bright white smile. The room emptied until it was just Alex, Meredith and Jo. Tears filled in Jo's eyes. She was expecting the worst. Worse than being left. Worse than her depression. She turned and looked at Meredith, whose face held a smile bigger than you could imagine.

"Hi." The tears that had been building up in Jo's eyes finally fell, straight onto the floor. She felt like she could breathe again. She walked over and sat on the side of Alex's bed, resting her forehead on his. She was relieved he wasn't dead like everyone imagined he would be. The three started talking, and the question about what happened finally sprouted into the conversation.

"I don't know. One minute we were fine. The next, it felt like pains shattered my body and I was unable to speak. I couldn't see if anyone was alright. I couldn't check on the kids. I could only see them crying. That hurt the most. How are the kids?"
"Eve's fine, and the twins have been sleeping, Alexis had surgery and both are in a medically induced coma until they have regained the strength they need."
"I'm so sorry, Jo. I was going to take them out for lunch, and get them to know each other before they met you. I thought it would be best."
"Alex. It's not your fault. The other driver was under the influence."
"Where are they? I want to speak to them." Alex sounded angry, but also sympathetic. He thought that the other driver was most likely injured as well, but as Jo and Meredith shared a look ; the look they give to the patient's family members whose family don't make it out of surgery. The death look.
"No. No, really?" Angry sighs came from Alex.

Hours, of what felt like minutes flew by, and visiting hours in the ICU were over, and as neither Mer or Jo were Alex's doctors, Theyhad no right being there any longer, and Bailey reminded them of that. Meredith left first, mentioning how she would be back in the morning.
"Jo-"
"Alex. I know. I'm just glad all 4 of you are okay. Don't apologise. It's not your fault." And then a smile grew. Jo leaned, for what Alex thought would be a light kiss. It was just the opposite. It was like a million butterflies coursed through Alex and Jo as their lips collided. It was just as amazing as their first kiss from the storm.
They separated and Jo leaned in and whispered in Alex's ear.
"Get better soon, and you might get lucky."
She got up, out of the warm embrace of Alex, in her spot in the bed, turned around and gave a subtle smile, followed by an even more subtle wink, but Alex could see it clearly enough. And with that, she left for the night.
