Kurt woke up the morning of December 19 with a huge grin plastered across his face and his daughter jumping on his bed. Today was the day! They were finally leaving for Ohio. Kurt had not been back home in about a year and a half because of his busy work schedule. Kurt got Audrey dressed in a dusty purple tool skirt, grey tights with white polka dots, and a tank top. Over the tank top, he added a fluffy soft cream-colored button-up. Before they left the house Kurt slipped little grey mittens, ear muffs, and a polka dot scarf onto the girl. Kurt loaded their suitcases into the car and they set off to JFK.
Rachel, Finn, and Carson would also be coming but not until later the next day because Rachel had a show late last night. Blaine had caught a flight earlier that morning.
Their flight landed in Ohio around 6:00. Kurt and Audrey stepped off of the plane and were immediately greeted by Burt and Carole.
Kurt ran up to his father, engulfing him in a hug. "I missed you kiddo!" Burt whispers into Kurt's ear. "I missed you too dad," Kurt says as he pulls away from the hug. "And where is my favorite granddaughter?" Burt asks before being practically tackled by a giggling Audrey. "Do I not get any hugs?" Carole speaks up. "I missed you too mom," Kurt says to Carole before wrapping his arms around her and kissing her cheek. Kurt had started calling Carole mom his junior year of college. It had just kind of slipped out one day accidentally. But he didn't regret it. Although Carole could never replace the bond Kurt had shared with his own mother, Carole felt like a second mother to him. Finn also called Burt dad. But that process had been a lot easier for Finn because he hadn't grown up with a father.
Kurt steps back to let Audrey hug her nana. "There's my princess!" Carole says as she scoops up Audrey into her arms.
After getting Kurt and Audreys luggage the family heads back to the Hudson Hummel Household.
The four of them ate dinner and chatted before heading to bed. Kurt slept in his old room while Audrey slept in Finn's old room which had been turned into a second spare bedroom/office.
The next morning Kurt woke up around 6:30 He walked downstairs to make breakfast. By 7:00 everyone was awake and enjoying Kurt's delicious chocolate chip pancakes. A little bit later while Audrey was in the living room watching cartoons Kurt decided to tell his parents about having Blaine over for lunch that afternoon. "So you guys know how I've told you about Carson's teacher Blaine. And how we've become really great friends over the past couple of months. Anyway, about a month ago we started dating. He really wants to meet you guys and he's in town visiting his family for the holidays. Audrey still doesn't know about us but we are planning on telling her when we get back to NYC. I've invited Blaine over for lunch today while Audrey is over Cedes and Sam's house." Carole practically squeals ."Of course sweetheart!"She exclaims. "We can't wait! right honey?" Carole bumps Burts's shoulder "I can't wait to meet him, Kurt," Burt says placing his hands on Kurt's shoulder. "But this boy better be treating you right. I have my shotgun and I'm not afraid to use it!" "Dadddd" Kurt whines. " he's amazing, compassionate, funny, polite, caring and I love him with all my heart. I promise you to have no reason to pull out the shotgun."
"Alright, kiddo I trust you," Burt responds. "Well, then it's settled. He'll be here at 1:00 after I drop Audrey off."
Kurt rolls up to Sam and Mercedes's house to drop Audrey off. Sam and Mercedes had gotten back together after Mercedes had retired from her music career and went back to coach the treble tones at McKinley. They got married soon after. Although the two didn't have any kids of their own they had adopted a dog a few years ago.
Kurt walked up to the door giving it a few knocks with Audrey on his hip and her backpack on his shoulder. A few seconds later Mercedes opens the door, letting the two inside. "Auntie Cedes!" Audrey Squealed Jumping off of Kurt and running up to her aunt. "Hey baby" Mercedes responds. Giving her a kiss on the forehead and a big hug.
"I guess I'll just go then Kurt says with I grin, spinning around teasingly towards the door." "Oh come here, white boy!" Mercedes says to Kurt before wrapping her arms around her best friend. "You know you love me" she playfully whispers into Kurt's ear. "You got me there" Kurt responds with a chuckle. And where is my favorite trouty mouth? Kurt asks. "Right here!" Sam says walking down the steps into the living room where Kurt Audrey and Mercedes were now seated. "And don't call me trouty mouth" Sam huffs before pulling Kurt into a hug. Sam then spins around to look at Audrey. "There's my goofball," he says picking Audrey up and hanging her upside down as he bursts out in a fit of giggles. "Uncle Sammy! I missed you" Audrey says as Sam returns her right-side up. "I missed you too cheese brain sam says tickling the girl. "Now why don't we go upstairs and I'll teach you how to play my guitar. "Ok!" Audrey squeals before two of them rush up the steps.
"You know Cedes," Kurt says when the two of them are left alone sitting on the couch. "Sometimes I think you married a 7-year-old trapped in a man's body." Mercedes chuckles "I think I'd have to agree with you."
"But now that I got you alone for a second I wanna hear about this boy."
Oh, Cedes he's amazing" Kurt beams. "He like fashion and Broadway, he's great with kids and has the perfect mix of Witt and humor. Also the like the hottest man I have ever laid eyes on ."
"Well white boy you gonna show me?!?"
"Omg, I totally forgot about that! Of course!"
Kurt began to show Mercedes a ton of cute pictures of Kurt and Blaine.
"You guys are too cute!" Mercedes says to Kurt once he's done showing all the photos. "But you better head on home because I know you are going to end up changing your outfit at least 3 times before he arrives." "Oh you know me too well" Kurt rolls his eyes playfully at the girl. "But your right I should get going. Don't forget to call if anything happens with Audrey. I love you! And I'll see you tonight!" "Love you to Kurt!" Mercedes says as she shuts the front door.
