A week had passed since Shirabu first coughed petals. In that week he had stayed home from school despite what his mother wanted.Shirabu needed a plan.
He would have to go to school every day, continue to play volleyball, and interact with his Senpai, all without exposing the petals. That itself was a death wish. To keep a normal life till the very end, but it's what he'd have to do.
Making a plan to keep his big secret couldn't have been harder.
Staying away from school though didn't stop his Kohai from messaging him every day. Goshiki made sure to say good morning and ask how Shirabu was feeling, then a good night.
Shirabu still saw the boy as annoying, but that didn't stop him from thinking about how caring he is.
Though that was something he'd happily take to his grave.
But staying home meant watching his brothers once they got back from school. Which was now. Shirabu heard the two boys fussing as they walked in the front door.
"Mom's gonna kill you when she sees your marks."
"Yours isn't any better!"
"Compared to yours, I passed."
Shirabu walked out of his room and to the living room where the two stood facing each other. Shirabu leaned on the doorway and cleared his throat before talking. Both boys turned quickly to face Shirabu, who stood with an annoyed face.
"Tell me your grades." He said looking at the boys while crossing his arms.
"Kaito got a 50"
"You got a 60!"
"A 60 is still passing dip shit!" The taller boy said causing Shirabu to chuckle.
"Itsuki, Kaito, stop arguing. What test was it?" Shirabu asked knowing they had quite a few tests recently.
"English," both boys said in a sigh causing Shirabu to chuckle again.
"Don't worry, I failed English too." He said comforting his brothers.
Both boys laughed a little before dropping their backpack on the ground and plopping onto the couch in unison.
Shirabu looked at his brothers. Itsuki was the younger twin, yet he was taller than even him. The boy had green eyes and dark brown hair, much like their father had. Kaito was the older twin, with the same hair and eyes as his brother, yet he was the shortest in the family.
Shirabu loved his brothers, but it annoyed him how much the two acted like another pair of twins he knew. He looked at the clock on the wall and then back at the middle schoolers.
"Go get cleaned up, mom will be here soon." He said causing both boys to dash to their room with their backpacks in hand.
Shirabu took their place on the couch feeling both tired and guilty. His brothers didn't know about the hanahaki. He felt bad for not telling them, but how does he begin to tell them that they're about to lose their brother only 4 years after their father.
"Am I interrupting?"
Shirabu opened his eyes quickly to see his ash-blonde senpai standing at the doorframe.
"What the fuck Semi? How did you get in here?" Shirabu asked pissed off.
"Your brother's left the door open."
"That's not an invitation to enter!"
"Can you shut up for a second? You're making me regret coming here."
