Dark Meta Knight's POV:
Ah, the entrance realm of the Mirror World... Once a vibrant, rainbow-covered, cloudy place, now the same, only all in shades of gray and black. I have to admit, I like it much better this way. Stark, plain, dark... Perfect.
With a small chuckle, the only external sign of excitement I will allow myself, I turn to my two prisoners who are both sealed in (currently not shattered) mirrors. "Well, your Majesty, Sir Head Advisor, are we comfortable? We shouldn't be here for too long, you'll be pleased to know. By this time tomorrow at the very latest, it will all be over, and there will be a new king of Dreamland and all her sister realms."
The snail just gulps and slugs over to a corner of the mirror where I cannot see him, probably so that he does not have see me. That is fine, I don't like looking at him at all either. The king, however, snorts and whines,
"Comfortable? You call this comfortable? It's all cold, like glass... heck, it is glass! And it's so hard, too! And when are we gonna get to eat supper? I'm starvin' over here, for the Fountain's sake! Can't we have some grub or, or somethin'? And for another thing-"
Cringing at the annoying sound of his voice, I finally bark in interruption, "I was being sarcastic, you idiot! Silence, or you will be silenced!" A whimper emits from the snail's mirror, while the penguin also gulps and scoots so he can't be seen. "Much better. Now stay silent. Quiet guests are the best kind."
"Guests?" two voices snort in scoffing unison from inside the mirrors, making me narrow my eyes at both magical fixtures. Even though they can no longer see me, both occupants give nervous laughs and become quiet again.
After giving a soft 'hmph' of satisfaction, I turn and look at the main entrance mirror. "I wonder how long it will take our little friends to figure things out and get here... Surely they'll know who kidnapped the daft dictator and his laughable little crony." With another quiet chuckle, I murmur happily, "And then they will all meet their doom. You two are the bait, yes... but you are also just the beginning of my plan."
Although I expect some sort of interest or at least mild horror at that last beautiful little cliffhanger of a sentence, the only response I get is the 'king' absentmindedly singing under his breath,
"My little crony, my little crony, you'll always be under my hammer..."
With a growl of annoyance, I quickly draw my sword out and strike both mirrors just enough to cause tiny cracks to go cascading all over their shining surfaces. "What part of 'be silent' do you not understand? And why are you not at all interested in my plan?"
Escargoon whimpers before replying in a cowering manner, "Look, your Head Darkness, or whatever you want to be called, we're plenty scared of you. But we also both know that since even Kingy can defeat you, pretty much anyone can, 'cepting Sir Meta Knight, o-of course. So, so, well, y'see, we're pretty sure we're going to make it out of here safely."
Scowling, I turn away and sheathe my sword again. "Your underestimation of my power and doubt of my inevitable victory only adds to my hatred for you, fools. You will be sorry when the battle that is fast approaching ends and you are on the losing side." After a pause, I force myself to take a deep breath and relax. No point in wasting precious rage before the actual fight is here. "His Royal Highness can defeat me, hmm? Then pray tell, how is it that you are both trapped in mirrors right now?"
"You cheated, you lousy little stale marshmallow with demusions of grandlure," the king declares haughtily. "You used Dark Matter to round us up, which is just about as low as you can get."
With a quiet laugh, I half-agree, "Oh, I must admit, having an army of Dark Matter at my command is simply wonderful, and all I had to promise them to get them on my side was that they'd be allowed to devour any imperfections that I decide to remove from my kingdom, which there are going to be unlimited volumes of. A lovely symbiotic relationship, wouldn't you say so? Only for us, of course... It's not so lovely for the rest of you disgusting beings."
