Behind the Mask (Dream SMP fanfiction)

Chapter 10 - Comfort

They had split up to make the search easier. The first group had George, Sapnap and Punz, the second had Eret, Thunder, Fundy, the third had Nikki, Purpled and Tubbo, the fourth had Wilbur and Tommy. They needed to find and protect Dream, they noticed that the beast didn't attack unless it knew Dream would arrive, so they figured out that the leader of the SMP is it's target.

Wilbur and Tommy ran through the forest, the sun had already began setting. They needed to hurry before monsters started spawning. All four groups had split up and went in four different directions, first group went south, second west, third east and fourh north.

It was a bit colder in the north so Tommy and Wilbur had to bring coats with them to not freeze. South and West were rather warm parts of the SMP while East was only a bit colder than West and South. Wilbur and Tommy noticed that snow started to fall, this meant it was getting colder. They ran faster, slicing their way through the bushes and killing the mobs.

It wasn't long until they heard an explosion from not too far away. They fastened their pace and noticed Dream trying to fight off some mobs with a stone sword and no armour. They jumped into action and started fighting with him. After they cleared out most of the mobs Wilbur left Tommy to deal with the rest while he himself went to check up on Dream.

He noticed that Dream's mask had little cracks in it and his clothes were dirty and damaged. He was shivering, most likely from the cold temperature.

Wilbur approached Dream but he only stepped back and pointed his sword at him, telling him to stay back. Wilbur had no choice, he used his own sword to throw the weapon out of Dream's hands and pinned him to a nearby tree. And while Dream struggled to push him off Wilbur noticed how weak he seemed.

-let me go, Wilbur... please...- Dream breathed out, he stopped struggling after a while, probably too tired to continue. Behind them Tommy was still protecting them from the mobs.
-tell me what happened to you, Dream...- Wilbur asked, he loosened his grip on the other to make him somewhat a bit more comfortable. Dream seemed to look away.
-please... we just want to help you...- Wilbur said, compeletly releasing Dream, to his surprise the other didn't attempt to run away. Wilbur placed his hands on Dream's mask and gently took it off. Dream had tears in his eyes.

Wilbur was worried, before he would had hated to admit it, but now, after getting to know the other, he just couldn't help but show his worry. He was a little bit surprised when Dream hugged him, crying. Murmuring something about the creature, being scared and some sort of poison, but the most shocking thing Wilbur managed to hear was Dream asking for forgiveness. Wilbur wrapped his hands around Dream and tried to calm him down. They needed to get out of here before Dream completly freezes here, it didn't help that he was too warm to Wilbur's liking.

Wilbur took off his coat and wrapped it around Dream as he picked him up and told Tommy to follow. They were running out of the forest now. Hopefully they would meet up with everyone else in L'Manburg soon. They needed to prepare for battle against that awful creature.
