(++++)Hey everyone! Sorry if this doesn't fit up with the storyline, I'm acting like this happens when they are staying in the field that they find the poodle in. I'm percabeth trash so even though this doesn't have a lot of percabeth it will be coming soon! (++++)

Annabeth opened her eyes to a sticky feeling in her pants and a slight cramping in her stomach. She sat up quickly and checked her pants to find yes, her period had made its grand arrival. It was really just her luck that in the few days she was on the quest it had to come. She had only gotten her periods a few months ago and so far they weren't bad. Her older sisters had warned her it could get worse over the years but for now, there was no discomfort besides a slight twang. The real problem was the blood, luckily she had brought some pads. Tampons were still nerve-racking for her.

Yawning she stretched over to reach inside the secret pocket of the backpack and find one, yet her hand closed on empty air. She stiffened and pulled the bag closer to peer inside. The pouch was empty. A sinking feeling started in her stomach and she began to grow nervous. Luckily it was early and Percy wasn't awake yet, gods that would be so embarrassing. Grover was supposed to be on watch though, but where was he? She sighed with relief when she saw him passed out against a tree. Terrible watch guard but at least he was alive. Grabbing her jacket she tied it around her waist to hide the stain and walked over to him.

"Grover!" she hissed in his ear, he jumped to his feet

"Wha, cyclopses? My Auntie goat?" he spun around wildly

"No Grover" she grabbed his shoulder, "No attack, you fell asleep on watch"

"Oh," he muttered sheepishly "I knew that last-minute snack wasn't a good idea"

"Last minute... Grover, what did you eat?" she asked cautiously an idea sparking in her head

"Oh just some green plastic things I found in the pack, I figured they weren't important..." he trailed off as he saw her face "they were yours weren't they, I am so sorry-" Annabeth stopped him

"It's fine," she told him though internally she was screaming "there sort of important, but I can probably find some at a local store."

"I could get them for you!" Grover piped up, "ya know since I ate them and stuff..."

"You would do that for me?" she asked surprised "it could be really embarrassing"

"It's fine" he reassured her nervously, "just tell me what they were and I can get some."

Annabeth wasn't sure he would be willing to do it but told him anyways "It's a green box labelled MAXI," she told him "You can find it in the, um well the women's section" his face reddened beneath his curls and he looked at his fake feet.

"Oh, um sure" he muttered blushing madly "I'll just... be right back" he turned and basically ran down the hill so fast Annabeth couldn't stop the giggle that escaped her mouth. she settled down next to the tree hoping Grover would be back soon and that Percy wouldn't wake up before then. her hopes were short-lived however and about 15 minutes after Grover had left Percy began to stir. he sat up and rubbed his eyes, wiping off the piece of drool that he always managed to produce. He looked at her in confusion and slowly started to stand up.

"Wheres Grover?" He asked blearily, still not fully awake."

"Oh he um, went to get some stuff from the store" She improvised, "He said something about being out of tin cans."

"Oh, okay" he went over to the pack "do we have anything for food? I'm hungry" arent we all Annabeth thought, "There should be some apples in the bottom," she guessed. hopefully, there would be something edible.

"Aha!" Percy reached in and pulled out two apples and a small bag of blueberries. "Gold!"

Annabeth couldn't stop her mouth watering, what? she was hungry, Percy walked over and tossed her an apple. "Let's save the cores for Grover," he suggested, his mouth already full of apple.

She bit into the tart crunchiness and savoured the refreshing juice. she could eat a dozen of these she thought, a grin seeping across her face. Up ahead they heard the sound of yapping and a few seconds later Grover appeared with 2 grey shopping bags and... A pink poodle?

"What the heck?" Percy muttered beside her "Why does Grover have a poodle, and I hope he brought snacks" Grover trouted up to them an ecstatic look on his face.  he tossed the smaller bag to her and proudly displayed the poodle.

"This is Gladiola," he said excitedly, "Say hello to Gladiola," Percy didn't look impressed "I am not saying hello to a poodle" he crossed his arms and Grover glared at him

"This poodle is our ride west" he put down the other bag. "I said hello to the poodle, you say hello to the poodle" Percy grumbled but said hello to the poodle.

Annabeth grabbed a spare pair of pants and slipped away as Grover started explaining how he had come across a pink poodle. She ran a little way into the woods and ducked behind a tree, quickly changing into fresh jeans and underwear slapping a pad on the latter. bring tampons next time, she reminded herself. It would be so much easier.

By the time she came back, Percy was looking slightly less grumbly, probably due to the chocolate bar he had in his hand and was starting to pack up camp.

"Apparently," he said through a mouthful of chocolate. "The poodles family has a very large amount of money for whoever returns him" he took another bite and tossed the wrapper in a bag. "We can get train tickets to California!"

"That sounds great!" Annabeth replied with genian enthusiasm, the quest had been so hard up until now. It was refreshing to have something easy to do.

"Hey, by the way, what was in the bag that Grover tossed you?"

"um"

"you know, he came back and gave you a bag, what was in it?"

"Um, shoe... cleaner?"

"Show cleaner?" he asked incredulously glancing down at her mud-stained Nikes

"Yeah... um, it didn't work very well"

"Sure," he said, brows furrowing "want a sandwich?"

The food was delicious, crunchy and sweet. Before long they were headed off, stomachs full from sandwiches Grover had bought and spirits high from the chocolate. Her cramps didn't bother her that much, just a slight twinging every now and then. Eventually she came to the problem of having to change her pad. It wasn't that she was ashamed, she shouldn't be it was normal. It would just be, embarrassing to have Percy find out.

she pretended to reach in the bag for her baseball hat instead shoving a pad in her sleeve.

"I'm going to use the bathroom" she announced on the train heading for the door. Grover was asleep and Percy simply nodded, his eyes focused on the rolling hills. She made her way to the bathroom in the back of the car and changed her pad. As she was washing her hands she noticed a small red dot on her pants. It was barley noticeable against the black and a few dabs from a paper towel had it cleand up. Had Percy seen, she wondered, why did she care if he did?

When she got back to their seats both boys were peacefully sleeping, Grover letting out little snores every few minutes. Sitting down she rested her head in her hands and soon she was dozing off as well. Some time later she was awoken from her sleep by a knoking

"Hm?" she muttered blinking an eye open to find a young women standing there with a bar of chocolate.

"I noticed you holding a pad earlier," she said "This is for you" Anabeth thanked the women and took the chocolate gratefully, a small cough from behind sparked her attention and she turned to see Percy looking at her with a baffled look on his face.

"Why did she bring you chocolate?" he asked

"Mind your business seawead brain" she grinned at him "Im just special like that"
