Comfort

It was December now and you and Eric were very happy together. You spent at least two days a week sneaking around together. Your dad was gone a lot for work so you would always invite him over and tell Mia you had a lot of homework when she asked what you were doing.

You had just gotten out of the shower when you heard a loud banging on the door. You tried to ignore it and hope it was just a UPS person but whoever it was wouldn't stop banging on the door. You threw on a bathrobe and rushed to the door. You opened it feeling slightly embarrassed that someone might see you in only your bathrobe but to your surprise it was Eric. He stood at the door with his head hanging low. You could see heavy clouds of air rise from his mouth and a rose color on his cheeks and nose.

"Can I..." He wasn't able to finish his sentence before bursting into tears. You grabbed his arm and dragged him back to your room. You sat him down on your bed.

"Do you want me to make tea or cocoa?" You asked. He shook his head no and grabbed your waist bringing you into a hug. You sat down next to him and pushed his head into your shoulder. "It's okay, I'm here okay." You ran your fingers through his hair until you heard Eric's breath become steady. "Do you want to talk about it?" You asked. He shook his head no again but you didn't feel you needed to force him. "When you feel like talking, if you do, I'll be here for you." You both fell back onto your bed and you let Eric fall asleep into your arms.

He eventually woke up and thanked you. You sat and drank hot cocoa with him not mentioning why he was so upset. You decided that if he wanted to tell you he would.

You texted Mia after he left to see how she was feeling and she seemed to be fine so you were confused about what had happened but happy that he had trusted you to comfort him, and that was all. All you needed was him.
