I honestly don't know why I'm writing this right now because I'm sure you probably would never know that this letter even exists. I heard someone say something like this was a good idea, but I don't know. I guess I just wanted to at least write the thoughts I could never say to you down.
Embarrassing I know.
I always thought you were scary, terrifying even, before we became friends. You were always the cheeky kid in the neighborhood, riling up everyone, from toddlers to adults, with a few ill-chosen words.
But who would've known that exact same cheeky kid would surprise me with his kindness.
People always bullied me for having no family, but you didn't care about that. For the first time in a long while, I felt happy. So I always stood by your side, and you stood by mine.
We were inseparable.
You came to me when no one else would even look at me in the eyes. You smiled at me so I would stop crying whenever I was hurt. You were my hero.
But even after all that joy, I wish you never gave me me hope in the first place.
