Jackie.
When I wake up, it's 7am and I'm cranky. I'm not a morning person, I hate the morning, I hate the sun in the morning.
I go straight to my bathroom and brush my teeth. I'm half asleep straightening my long dark brown hair. But once I'm done doing my makeup which isn't that much to be honest. I put on my jewelry and stay in my pajamas. Which is just a T-shirt and shorts.
Walking out of my bedroom and into my living room, I almost forgot about Dylan. He's still asleep on my couch.
I quietly start making breakfast, in my new kitchen. I can cook pretty good, growing up Italian. You're kinda forced to know how to cook.
"What a women."
Looking towards him. He's sitting up on the couch with a smirk at me. And then he squints his eyes and holds his head in pain.
Hangover.
"That's why you shouldn't get so shit faced." I say, finishing my food and putting it on plates. I bring him one and sit next to him.
He whispers thanks and takes it, "And hey, I had a good reason." I shrug to that and hand him some orange juice and Asprin. He drinks it quickly with the pill and starts devouring his food.
As I'm eating, giggling at the way he acts like it's his last meal.
"Seriously, what a women." Dylan shakes his head at me. "This is good food."
I take his empty plate and put them in the sink. "What a weird way to get to know your neighbor."
He agrees, "Sorry about that. You just caught me on a bad night. I usually am a swell guy."
Sitting back next to him, I say, "I get it. I just broke up with this guy who I'd been with for 6 years. He didn't take it well. But he was bad for me."
"6 years?" He asks shocked, "Who was he, your high school sweetheart?"
"I guess. We started dating when I was 14 and he was 20."
"That's too old for a 14 year old. He sounds like a predator."
I scoff, "He's only 5 years older. Meanwhile you're 10 years older and you kissed me. Predator."
"Hey!" Dylan laughs, playfully nudging my shoulder, "I was drunk and at least you aren't a minor. So if we fucked I wouldn't go to jail."
"You wish." I nudge him on the shoulder right back.
As I do, Dylan takes my hand and pulls me close to his face. "I think I do."
In my head I do want to kiss him. He's this older, hot, next door neighbor. But I shouldn't. I feel too shy to anyways.
"Your breath smells like eggs." I smirk.
He sits back with a grin.
We watch a bit of tv before I get up and go to my room to get changed for work. A black shirt and jeans. When I walk back out, Dylan is raiding my fridge.
"If you're gonna be going through my fridge, I'm gonna be going through yours." I say, grabbing my keys and purse.
"Where're you going?"
"Work, it's my first day."
He jogs over to me, looking at my shirt with the label on it. Lifting his head up to look at me, "You're gonna be working at Conlan's?" I nod and Dylan grabs his jacket, "Be Careful around those Conlan boys. You're young and they won't hesitate to screw you over."
Rolling my eyes, "Come on, they can't be bad. It's a job, not high school." We both walk out of my apartment and I lock the door behind us. "So I guess I'll see ya later."
As we walk down the hallways to the elevator, he swings his arm over my shoulder.
"You know, this'll be fun. All my neighbors before were 90 and assholes."
Weirdly my feelings bout him so far are comfortable. I feel like I can trust him and he reminds me of an old boyfriend I had. Who was actually like a best friend.
Dylan.
When we're in the lobby, Jackie walks out waving at me before disappearing. She's beautiful, I've seen a lot of girls. But damn, she's beautiful.
I'm leaning on the front desk where Claire is sitting. She's 24 and the daughter of the landlord. I can't tell you how many times I've fucked Claire. She's a red headed slut who sometimes works shifts for quick cash. Sure Claire's hot.
But with Jackie, I got my eyes on the prize.
"Who's that?" Claire purses her lips.
I take my keys out of my back pocket, "My new neighbor."
Yeah, I told a little lie to Jackie so she'd let me spend the night. But to be fair, I was drunk, sad, and lonely.
"Did you fuck her?"
I scoff, "No, hopefully soon though."
Claire leans over the desk and pulls close to her by my shirt. "What? Do you like her more than me?"
Kiddingly, I nod. Which makes her scoff, but I'm not kidding.
