Silverkit nibbled at her fresh-kill. Stormpaw had always been better than her, and she had just proven it again. She had always said, "It's not about being better. It's about taking care of your Clan."
And Silverkit had always protested, "But I want to become a leader. And you being a better warrior than me would get in the way of that." Stormpaw would scoff. Silverkit would scowl.

        "Hi, Silverkit." Snowkit mewed.

"Oh, hi, Snowkit." Silverkit replied, turning to look at the small she-cat. "What's up?"

"Nothing." Snowkit sighed. "That's the problem. It's always like this in the nursery; boring, boring, wishing to be an apprentice, and more boring."

"That's true." Silverkit meowed. "But it can also be loads of fun! You want to play catch with the ball of moss?"

"Sure, let's have Goldenkit and Talonkit play, too." Snowkit mewed. "Oh! But first, I want to see your new brother and sister."

"Me too," Silverkit admitted. "I haven't had a real good look at them yet." They walked to Angelfall, who, of course, happened to be taking care of Whitekit and Blackkit. "Hi, Angelfall." Silverkit meowed. "Can we see the kits?"

"Sure," Angelfall meowed. "I am so glad to have them with us!"

"Oh...They're so cute!" Snowkit squealed. The kits squeaked back. "That's adorable! They're so small and fluffy."

"You're one to talk," Silverkit giggled. "You're the fluffiest cat I know!" Snowkit cuffed her ear.

"I am not!" Snowkit purred. "I'm the fluffiest cat ever." Silverkit rolled her eyes. That was not that surprising of a statement. Whitekit stood up on her small paws and scampered over to the two older kits. She let out a high-pitched mew.

"Oh, looks like she's tired." Angelfall purred. "Time for a nap, Whitekit."

"How about that game of catch?" Silverkit turned her attention to Snowkit.

"I want to get a better look at Blackkit." Snowkit meowed firmly.

"Okay, fine. I'll be waiting for you after if you still want to play. Me, Goldenkit, and Talonkit will start a game!"

"Don't be surprised if I don't come for a while." Snowkit meowed. Snowkit was a very young kit, the youngest besides the two new kits. She was actually born very recently. Poor Snowkit would be left alone in the nursery while her friends became apprentices! She'd have to become friends with Blackkit and Whitekit.

"Hey, Goldenkit, and Talonkit!" Silverpaw meowed. "Want to play catch?"

"Sure," Goldenkit meowed. Talonkit nodded. "Let's go! I'll start."

"Yay!" Goldenkit pawed the ball to Talonkit, who then pawed it back to Goldenkit.

Oh no. They are never going to pass to me. They're going to pretend they didn't know I meant with me. This is mouse-brained.

"I meant with me," she growled.

"Oh, did you?" Goldenkit mewed innocently. "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

"Me neither!" Talonkit added, grinning. "Here." He kicked the ball to her, but it was going so fast that it hit her in the face and she fell to the ground.

"Ow!" she screeched. "You're going to pay for that!" She chased them around the nests, finally caught Goldenkit, and pinned her to the ground. Goldenkit tried to escape, but Silverkit turned out to be stronger. "I win this fight!" Silverkit purred.
