A Haywire is a heavy calibre autocannon developed and used by the multiversal alien race Phalanx. Below is a standard haywire originating from the Andromeda division.

Standard haywires come equipped with two heavy chainguns fed by a belt of 2,000 2 inch calibre armour piercing rounds. In other words: very large bullets. The exterior is constructed from a fractilite material known as cremium, with three times the strength of titanium yet unfortunately twice as heavy. Haywires are fully automated with a built-in computer system, allowing it to lock onto targets, predict their path, and fire accordingly to deal with a threat. Haywires can be manually overridden to provide a powerful piece of rapid-fire field artillery. The autocannon is typically mounted upon land vehicles, warships and heavy aircraft to provide some cover and defence from incoming missiles or other enemy equipment.
Haywires are abundant and widely available, with the exception of a few particularly isolated divisions. Each division has its own custom haywire built for a unique purpose or with a unique paint scheme and design.
