She kills because The Company killed the ones she loved. She murdered so many people, that she was a threat to the women in prison. That's when she was transferred to Fox River State Penitentiary: an all male prison. While in there, she finds out secrets that will change her life forever.

Do you see this place? There was no purposeful action that caused this- this catastrophe. At least, with the purpose of leaving this world a wasteland. 3: Do you think it was war? Humans do have the tendency to enact terrible deeds due to war. 1: Possibly, but it seems unlikely that they would knowingly do such a thing. It's most probable that they encountered a natural obstacle. 2: Maybe, or they just got sick of it and left. 3: Whatever they did, it did a number on this place. 1: Yes, not exactly the best vacation spot.
