Before diving into the poems, I let you know first why do we need to know ourselves. So here is a simple essay:

Back and Forth Mirror of Self

To understand philosophy of the self, we need to philosophize and think out of the box or beyond physical things. To metacognitize of the self, we need to see the self in the past, in the present, and in the future. In order to see the self in the three element of time, we need to transcend or mirror the self back and forth.

To better understand, self is the "I am" which defines the soul or spirit. As stated by Robert O. Johann in his Being as Object, Being as Subject, "it is being as self: the "I" of which I am conscious and which, though identical with me, still transcends all my actual determinations and presents itself as a sort of inexhaustible source; or again, the "you", turned towards me and engaging me in a dialogue, knowable only in relation to me as freely responding to my initiative..." In other words, self is the "I" which is the source of consciousness.

According to Gabriel Marcel in his Phenomenological Method - Secondary reflection, "the experience of the self goes deeper or accept the original experience as final." For instance, I am my body. I feel pain when the dentist pulls my tooth. I experience a terrible feeling when I sell my body which accepts the original experience which is a body like other bodies, detached from the "I", the body examined by the doctor, studied by medical students, or the body sold by a prostitute. This means that in order to know the self you need to go back to the things themselves or the primary reflection or in other words, "past" to understand the self in the present and to transcend in the future.

In addition, even as I reflect upon myself, I am aware of the distinction between the "myself" about whom I am thinking and the "myself" who think; aware of the inadequacy of the former as a conceptual expression of the latter. In order to understand self, we need to examine the distinction of body and soul or spirit. The body is what we have; which we possessed. The soul or spirit is the I in the " I am" of the self. When we say "I am", we are referring to the "myself" or realm of self. To seek to know the "self" we need to go back in the remnants of the self; which is the past, and go forth to transcend the self to its destiny or to present as source capable of new manifestation or new revelation; which is the future.

Another way to see the self, we need to see with the mind - I cannot see it for you but I can help you to see it. It means that the self only who can see "myself or itself" in the realm of metaphysical uneasiness.

Now, I let you think of this: seeing with the mind bring us to the very heart of reality, and reality is deep and unfathomable. What does it mean? That is, to see the self with the mind let us go back and forth to know the reality of how the self is constructed or determined in the back of time, or it gives us things beyond understanding like going to the deep of imagination mirroring the future. In this, we analyze the who is the self, or simply "Who am I" in this world.

To better understand the self, self is like a thing in between of the two mirror reflecting the past and the future. To enter in the reflection of self, we need to see with the mind, to transcend, to reflect, and to self-analyze the two element of "self" time: past, and future. Thus, this essay speaks clear-cut about transcendental of the self - the reflection, analysing of the self as a single entity in between of the two epoches.

It is really hard to describe and define the "self" when I am not talking about the physical "self." As Socrates said, "Know thyself" and "An unexamined life is not worth living for," we need to examine or know ourselves with depths. How will you be acquainted with yourself or fight "ego" when you even don't know your capabilities, talents, and you yourself.
