"I still can't believe you had to come with me," Sophie muttered as she made her way through the crowd of students waiting outside the giant triangle-shaped building.
"Yeah and I still can't believe you've gotten kidnapped and tortured, yet here we are," Sandor replied breezily, his giant hand on her shoulder.
"Touché," Sophie praised. She stood on her tiptoes looking for any sign of a tall redhead.
Sandor smiled lightly. "I do my best."
"You don't see Dex anywhere do you?" Sophie asked as she considered climbing onto Sandor for a better view of the purple field.
A BOOM! sounded followed by a shriek and a "LEX!"
"Found him," Sophie and Sandor said at once, turning to look towards the sounds, grimacing.
Pushing past a group of young boys, Sophie and Sandor walked towards the sounds of chaos.
Dex, who was sporting orange skin and a neon green handlebar mustache, was towering over his younger siblings, wearing a look of exasperation and pure fury only an older sibling could perfect. The triplets had on matching looks of poorly hidden laughter at Dex's mustache that was swinging wildly as he waved something over his head.
"I'm really digging the new look, cuz" Sophie smirked.
Bex grinned up at her as she discreetly fist-bumped Lex. The triplets could be menaces, but Dex looking like the Oompa Loompa's from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory was exactly what Sophie needed that morning. Anything to get her mind off that particularly horrifying episode she had had earlier in the morning.
Dex turned his glare on her. "Oh, you better watch out. You'll be next."
"I for one think you'd look great with a mustache." Rex grinned cheesily at her and she laughed.
Sophie ruffled his strawberry blonde hair. "Thanks, Bud, but I'd rather not have to lock you in with the Vermillion as punishment. They get antsy."
The matching grins dropped from all three freckled faces at Sophie's comment. There'd been more than a few incidents to know she didn't play around.
"On that note," Bex said, tugging on her brother's elbows, "we better be off before we have to see Dex canoodling with the princess."
Dex blushed a bright red, and odd sight on his orange skin, and opened his mouth to reply, but Sophie had already looped their arms together.
"I don't canoodle," he mumbled as they walked along, his mouth flipping into an even deeper frown.
"Sure you don't," Sophie consoled mockingly, patting him on the arm. "Oh look! There's Linh!"
Dex grumbled something but Sophie didn't stop to listen. She waved at Marella who was talking to a girl Sophie knew was Wylie's cousin.
