Chapter 19

"And then this girl started flirting with me" "Of course" Benny rolls his eyes. "But, like always, Sarah was angry for some reason. And when I brought up the fact we could possibly date, she didn't deny it!" "So, does that mean you're gonna ask her?" Benny wonders. "I don't know. I still get a little nervous about that. Like, the kissing is fine, but actually going on a date? She's way out of my league" I scoff and Benny shrugs.

We spot Ethan walking down the stairs and both walk towards him. "Dude, I've got it. A spell that will totally prove that David's a werewolf. A canine lupus. One hit, and wham! Claw and tooth time. We get it on tape, throw it on the net, two million views later, ka-chow!" Benny holds up his camera. "Bucks, babes...Benny." He lists of with a smile.

"You left out biting and bodies. If there's a werewolf in school, you're gonna get plenty of both." Ethan points out. "Hey, I doubt all werewolves are murderous-psychos. There's this one rare werewolf I read about called a true alpha that becomes an alpha without killing another werewolf. Though, that was a type B werewolf not a type A. Wait, are we talking about type A or B werewolves?" I wonder.

"Type A. Type B werewolves aren't that hairy" Ethan explains and I nod. "Do you guys want to know if he's a canine or what? Better to find out now, and on camera, 'cause there's a full moon on Friday. David may be part animal, but he's all money." Benny and Ethan smile while I shrug. "Hey, guys. Who's a party animal? It's me, right?" Rory comes up, oblivious to the previous conversation.

"No, it's David. Don't worry about it." Ethan waves him off. "Are you having a party? 'Cause my Friday's wide open. And Saturday. And Sunday." Rory lists off and we all share a look. "Uh, sorry, Rory. We're going to the....um...garlic and tanning bed convention." Ethan quickly makes up. "Garlic and tanning bed convention?" I mutter confused but Ethan quickly elbows me.

"It'd be so cool if you came. But...you know, you'd burst into flames. Next time?" "Yeah. For sure. I'll...see you guys later." We all walk away, leaving a dejected Rory behind. "Harsh, dude" Benny whispers once we're far enough away from the vampire. "Yeah, come on. Garlic and tanning bed convention? I can't believe he actually fell for that" I scoff. "Had to be done. If David really is a werewolf, he'd tear Rory to shreds."

"Wolves and vamps are, like, archenemies. Kind of like Benny and girls" Ethan explains, walking away. "True" I laugh, following after. Benny laughs sarcastically before following as well while Ethan and I snicker. We walk outside where the football team was practicing and stand on the sidelines.

"All right, just one little spell, and things are about to get furry." "You mean, more furry" I correct and Benny nods, looking over his spell book. I look over, spotting Erica cheering on the other side. "Oh, God. I didn't think she was actually serious" I sigh out. "Awkwardness at 12 o'clock." Ethan nods.

"Gooo team hairy! David!" David looks towards Erica confused and waves, causing someone to tackle David. "Hey, jerk! Watch his face!!" Erica snaps at the player and I snicker. "She's funny when she's angry" I laugh. "Benny, do it now! Zap him!" Ethan urges while David sits up. "Zap him? This is magic, not Star Wars. Totally different geek universe!" "Just do it, geek" I sigh and he turns to look at David who had already stood back up.

"Dormlath lupus...gorkanoth." He points his hand towards David and the gold stream whizzes right past him, circling back around and hitting Ethan instead. Ethan falls the ground with a grunt. "Benny!" He complains. "Sorry, dude. I got nervous." Benny defends himself and I roll my eyes, helping Ethan up. "Try to be less nervous next time, please. I think the spell would work if you hit the right person" Benny glares at me and I shrug.

"Don't worry. You're not a wolf. You'll be fine." Benny assures him. "Woo!" Erica claps for David after another play. "Dormlath lupus...gorkanoth!" This time he hits David causing David to stumble back and fall to his knees. "Camera! Camera! Get the camera!" Benny rushes Ethan and they try to get the camera out while I watch David.
