"Don't you dare." I look into his eyes with determination. "People love you too much for you to go out like this."
I stared at him, and he stared back. He looked oddly calm for the situation he was in.
"I may not have always been there for you when I should have," I continued. I felt a single tear escaping my eye. "I'll be there for you now, just please, step away from the cliff. Come here."
"Then, I'm sorry." He looked at me with furrowed brows and genuine sorrow, which only broke myself more.
"Then..." I didn't know what else to say or even what I could say to save him. I put him in this mess. Had I just talked to him, he would be fine. "Then, if you're truly sorry, come here and give me a hug."
"I'm afraid I can't. It's too late. I've made up my mind." He looked me in the eyes and I just knew. I just knew what he was thinking.
"Don't you dare." Those were the last words he heard before he leaned backward, over the cliff.
"Goodbye."
"Jeremy!" I shrieked and rushed over to save him. I grabbed hold of his shoelace in time, but I wasn't anchored.
I fell.
He fell.
We both fell.
We fell to the bottom of our cliff before we were no more in accidental suicide.
I'm not actually sure there is such a thing as 'accidental suicide' but I thought the title had an interesting ring to it, so I left it.
