"What can I help you with, today?" a perky and energetic waitress bussed out table. I look over to my date, who was looking at me already. He was being flirtatious with his glances. I was not. I was dead serious.
"I'd like him with a side of extra arsenic bread!" I finally decided with a gleeful smile on my face.
My date looked at me questionably. Maybe he thought I was finally going stir crazy and was playing a joke. Or maybe he thought I was actually telling the truth. Whatever the case, he barely revealed any emotion.
"Coming right up!" The waitress seemed to radiate her delight. She liked orders like mine, in particular, telling from the way she bounced and lit up after hearing my answer.
Within moments, she was back with a plate full of garlic bread.
"It smells delicious! Thank you, miss."He responded as the waitress handed him an extra-large piece. Then, he looked at me. "Though, this is a strange dinner."
"Trust me. There's still more to come." I smiled through bites.
Bite,
after bite,
after bite, I watched him chew and swallow.
Chew and swallow.
Finally, "Are you ready to go home yet? I'm starting to get tired." His eyes were droopy and his head hung low, both from exhaustion. All symptoms were also from the bread. Finally, he was weak enough for the next stage.
"No. Why would we go home when the main course is ready?"
"I'm sorry?" He looked all around but saw nothing out of the ordinary. "I'm afraid all I see is garlic bread.
"I'll give you that, but I'll give you a hint. I'm looking at my dinner right now." I stared right into the windows to his soul. "And he's looking mighty fine."
"Are you trying to be kinky and make a joke...? Or... You know you're scaring me, right?" He stood to leave. I followed his action, but instead, I took my fork and dragged it harshly across his stomach.
"Dinner time!" I sang as I dug in.
Hey... fun fact. Arsenic blends really well with garlic because it smells kinda like it. This was inspired by a comment I made in my forensics class. "Just slap some arsenic on garlic bread and no one would know..."
Anyways, depending on the dosage, you get kinda sluggish after a while. In this case, it was about 30 minutes. That weakened him enough to lose in the battle of the fork.I love forensic science... <3
