Chapter 5: Meeting new persons

Six months after arriving on Isla Nublar, Valentina was still causing trouble, as she had deliberately ventured in the Dilophosaurus Paddock, came in the Baryonix Pond while everyone was looking away, dived into the Tylosaurus Lagoon when no one was there watching, entered the Petting Zoo to litterally let the dinosaurs lick her and the 3 and a half year old even swam in the Cretaceous Cruise river. All of these incidents led to Owen Grady and his daughter to ground Valentina for ten weeks, after which the little girl changed. Or rather so she claimed, as the toddler was very stubborn and didn't want to lose her privileges, to the point of forcing Peyton and her father to hire a tutor while Owen was at work and Peyton at Nublarian High School.

Meanwhile, Claire's nephews Zach and Gray were picked up at the docks by Zara, Claire's assistant, after arriving in Costa Rica by plane and then by ferry. The trio was walking around the island while Gray asked many questions.

"How big is the island?" Gray asked.

"Big." Zach answered boringly.

"Yeah, but how many pounds?" Gray asked again.

"Does it matter?" Zach asked back, not caring about what his little brother asked.

"Come on!" the overexcited Gray told his older brother, pulling him by the arm.

"Slow down, Mom doesn't pay me to babysit." Zach told him.

The two of them then entered the Innovation Center, where they saw holograms, projectors. Gray tried out the Mr DNA projector excitedly. "Cytosine, Guanine, Adenina and Thymine. The four components of life."

As Mr DNA was explaining scientific facts, Claire was coming down the stairs, then she saw her two nephews. "Zach? Gray?" she called them out.

The two of them also saw her coming, and Gray rushed towards his aunt.

"Aunt Claire!" he yelled excitedly before hugging his aunt. As he lets go, Claire looked at her nephews.

"Wow. Look at the two of you. How many year has it been? Five... Six years?" Claire told them.

"Seven... seven years actually." Zach corrected his aunt.

"Right. If you two are a little bored, then you can meet a little girl, whose name is Valentina Grady. She is very special, but we don't know much about her. You also can meet someone named Peyton Grady. She always wears surplus military clothes. But anyway, I can see you have your VIP passes. I'll be meeting you at 8:00 pm." Claire informed them before turning to Zara, "Bring them at Camp Cretaceous, where they are registered." Claire went back to her work before the trio went into the park.

As they walked in the park, Zach saw a teenager leading a group of men he didn't know. Coming closer, he asked the teenage girl to introduce him to everyone.

"Excuse me, are you Peyton Grady?"

"Yeah. And that's 1st Lieutenant Tim Murphy, US Marine Corps. These guys there, packing M4s, are his men." Peyton answered strapping the M4A1 carbine she had the day she welcomed her cousin. 

"I'm..." Zach began talking as he had to grip his little brother.

"I know. You're Zach Mitchell and the little overexcited poodle here is your little bro Gray." Peyton interrupted Zach.

"Are you Tim Murphy, like Hammond's grandson? And isn't Peyton an imposter?" Gray excitedly asked the Marine officer, having noticed Peyton wore the same uniform as the US Marines.

"Yes, I am. But now call me 1st Lieutenant Murphy. And no, Peyton wears a Marine uniform belonging to her father." Tim explained him.

With that said, he and his men left alongside Peyton before driving in their Humvees towards the new hybrid paddock, where they would meet Dr. Wu, Owen, Hoskins, Barry, Claire, Lex, Hamada and Mr. Masrani himself alongside Valentina, Peyton's cousin. Once they reached their destination, Peyton came in first and called out Claire.
