Chapter 6: Confrontation

Peyton, Tim and his men were outraged as they heard the name of Renaldo Morty. They tracked him for a period comprized between twelve months for the youngest of them and twelve years for Tim and didn't find convincing evidence of this man's unethical behavior. Now, Jason was one of these, in addition to being an eyewitness of Renaldo Morty's behavior.

"Who is this man?" Claire asked.

"Renaldo Morty is a motherfucker, known for providing money and high-end weaponry to terrorists. These same terrorists protected his labs in return. The US Armed Forces killed a lot of them, but has 4,500 men killed in action doing so. Our allies have a body count of 500,000 soldiers. All of them were good guys. Two years ago, in Afghanistan, my men and I raided one of his labs, but the Afghan Police was leading. When we arrived, all of the Afghan police officers were dead and we had to finish the job ourselves." Tim explained

"504,500 men killed around the world per year?" Gray asked, having heard the conversation.

"No, Gray. 504,500 good men killed over from 1999 to 2013. All around the world in the line of duty. Not counting the 900,000 cops killed in the line of duty around the world in the same period time." Tim corrected.

"That's why this motherfucker must pay for what he has done." a US Marine agreed.

"You're right, Briggs. But we have to get reinforcements, plus more intel." Tim said as Peyton, he and his men headed towards the Humvees with Owen, Claire, her nephews and Lex putting on some clothes before mounting their jeep

The convoy then rolled to the lab, where they met Henry Wu and, much to their surprise Jason, Hoskins and Hamada. The quartet was actually discussing about Renaldo Morty when Peyton called them out.

"Renaldo Morty's a big conversation topic as I can see."

"You're right. And Jason has recovered some memories." Wu informed her.

"What can you tell us?" Tim asked politely.

"Well, apart from what I told you earlier, I also heard Morty talking to a man named Marco and threatening to have his daughter killed with lethal injection." Jason revealed.

"What was that about?" Peyton jumped in

"It was about stealing some data from the most important scientist in Jurassic World and kidnapping a little girl named Valentina. I also know he gets his money from selling weapons to drug traficking groups and far-right extremist organizations. But for the rest, I need more time." Jason replied.

"Well, have some rest. Thanks for the information anyway." Lex gently told him.

"Wait. Morty wants Dr. Wu's data. And he also wants to kidnap my cousin." Peyton said turning towards her father, who was holding a now-scared Valentina in his arms.

"Why her?" Hoskins asked

"Morty wants to turn the kid in a child soldier, like the LRA does in Kivu. I've been deployed last year in Kivu to support the MONUSCO mission. My platoon helped UN peacekeepers and FARDC to raid one of Morty's labs, as they suspected him of holding abducted tourists and locals hostage there. But the Congolese guys got wiped out by the LRA guards and we had to do the rest ourselves. When we discovered the lab, we found the hostages had been executed after having been experimented upon. As we examined the bodies, I saw they were in bad shape and I understood the experiment went south before the abductees were executed." Tim explained.

"Tim, I understand your anger. But don't be obsessed with this." Lex tried to reassure her brother

"Nope. I still have photos of those who died because of that dick, and made an oath. I swore to their families and myself to make sure these civies, service members and police officers didn't die in vain. I made the promise to track him down, find him and put him in trial for his crimes." Tim explained to everyone.
