Love, for me it has only brought trouble.

Or so said my birth mother. When I was younger I'd always ask her what she meant by that. But now, I knew.

"Why?" He asked. I glanced up to the person who had always made me feel loved, feel special like I was worth all the drama and the fights.

"Because you keep being distant," I replied, as my lips quivered. It wasn't supposed to go like this.

A voice in my head replied back. Then how was it supposed to be like?

I didn't answer.

Ryan glanced up at me with disbelief. He flew abruptly from his seat and slammed his hands against the table, clear frustration plastered on his face. "You never open up to me Annora!" I could feel the hot stares of people from other tables.

I clutched the arms of my chair and looked down in shame. I'm trying. Why couldn't I tell him that?

He would always open up to me. Always.

But I couldn't.

I stared at my empty plate refusing to meet his gaze. I know this relationship is over. My eyes wandered to the front door of the gourmet restaurant.  "I'm sorry, Ryan." I spoke softly.

This dinner was over.

I stood up from my seat and took one final glance at him. He looked like a statue, unmoving. I knew he couldn't believe it...I knew I couldn't believe it.

I was breaking our relationship. Me. The one who promised we could make it work. That we could be like any regular couple.

Sadly, reality caught up with us. And when it did, it tore us apart.

I step forward to the door a few meters away.

My sudden movement seemed to break Ryan out of whatever trance he was in and he made a move to stop me. "Wait, Annora I-,"

He doesn't want me to leave. My thoughts stormed. I wanted to run back to apologize. Say we still had hope. But my legs slowly kept onwards.

Ryan's desperate pleas to get me to stay slowly drowned in with the other people's chatter in the restaurant.

I began to walk faster, ignoring the lump in my throat as my eyes began to sting.

I act quickly and cover my mouth to hush the pathetic sobs that threatened to come out. Don't cry, don't cry!

My other hand reached for the door knob when suddenly the door opened and a body entering collided with my own. I was about to fall backwards until they grabbed my upper arm sending sparks throughout my whole body.

"Whoa," a deep smooth voice chuckled. I looked up and saw a man.

He had dark curly blond hair and a neatly trimmed scruff with eyes the color of the sea. His smile disappeared from his face when he noticed my tears.

Then his scent hits me. Adding confusion to my already mixed feelings.

I didn't have time for it though. Right now, I didn't care about anything but Ryan. I moved my head down to avoid the beautiful strangers pierced gaze. "Excuse me," I whispered, then slid past him through the entrance doors into the vacant night streets.

Immediately cold air hit me making me wrap my arms around my slender figure. I shivered as heavy rain drops fell against my pale skin.

Tightening my grip on my small red purse I walk to the edge of the sidewalk. I could barely see anything with the only illumination being the street lights. No cars in view as far as I could see down the street making my chances of finding a cab slim. Dammit.

I can't walk it's too far. I opened my purse and took out the phone. No battery. I resist the temptation to crush the device. And just when I needed it the most.

"Need a car ride?" A familiar voice asked. I flipped around only to my surprise to found out it's Mr. Sea Blue Eyes. The guy I bumped into at the door with his dark blond hair and fancy clothing getting soaked in the rain. I felt heat rise up in my cheeks. What's wrong with me?

"I don't take car rides from strangers," my voice sounded cold, unfeeling. Surely that'll make him leave. I just need to find another way to get home.

"You sure?" he asked looking around giving me a look that screamed 'really?'

Why is he still here? I stood still next to the empty street, dumbfounded. "Yes," I said, forcing the answer out. The odd feeling of recognition hit me once again. Have I seen him somewhere before...

"Well, if you need me I'll be in there," he gestured to the entrance of the restaurant behind him. I froze, what if Ryan came out that door?

"Wait," I whispered stopping the stranger. He looked back at me, a shine in his eyes.

"I'll go with you," I said. I can't believe I'm doing this.

He gave me a wry smile. "Great."

Back then I didn't know that my future would change because of meeting him. If I knew what I did now...I would have kept my mouth shut, and let my destiny pass me by in the blink of an eye.
