"If I Can't Then Nobody"

Mom's sudden announcement had stunned Lucas and me. Lucas, in particular, was caught off guard. He stood up so abruptly that his chair almost tipped over. I could see the confusion and shock on his face as he struggled to process what he had just heard. As for me, I felt a mix of emotions – surprise, shock, and a hint of fear. Was this really happening? Was my family planning to marry me off to this guy I just met? It all seemed so sudden and unexpected.

Everyone at the table was stunned into silence, their faces reflecting the shock of Lucas's outburst. Mom cleared her throat, breaking the silence. "Why, what's wrong with you, Lucas? Isn't that good news? Your sister getting married?

Lucas's eyes widened, and he stood up from the table with an air of indignation. "No, I think you should have asked her first before making a decision," he replied, his voice laced with irritation. Lucas forced a smile and tried to compose himself, but inside he was a bundle of nerves and turmoil.

As I watched him, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Our secret relationship was tearing Lucas apart, and I knew that I had to end it before it was too late. But how could I? Every time we were alone, every time he touched me, it was like an addiction that I couldn't resist. I felt his gaze on me, and I knew what he was thinking. It was a secret that only we knew, the fact that we had been involved intimately for some time now. It was complicated, but we were both addicted to each other's touch.

But I quickly pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the conversation at hand. After all, this was about my future, and I needed to make sure that I had a say in it.

As everyone was processing Lucas's outburst, Sehun, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "I think we can work on it together, Lisa. Maybe we can start dating and see where it takes us?"

Mrs. Oh looked at me with a hopeful expression. "I understand your concerns, Lucas. But Sehun and Lisa are both adults, and they should have the chance to explore their feelings for each other."

"I agree with Mrs. Oh," mom also chimed in. "If they are both interested in each other, then why not give it a chance? They can take their time and get to know each other better before making any decisions."

Sehun smiled at me. "I would love to get to know you better, Lisa. And if it's alright with you, I would like to take things slow and see where this goes."

Lucas interjected, "But what about Lisa's studies? She's still working on her degree and might need time."

Mrs. Oh nodded in agreement, "You're right, Lucas. We don't want to rush her into anything. We can let them take their time and decide when the right moment comes."

Sehun chimed in, "Of course, I want Lisa to finish her studies first."

Lucas looked furious, clenching his fists, but I knew there was nothing we could do to change the situation. With a deep breath, I spoke up, trying to keep my emotions in check. "If this is what you want, Dad, then I will do it," I said, my voice trembling slightly.

But then, I quickly added, "But I need some more time to think about this. Just give me some space." I could feel Lucas relax a little next to me, knowing that I wasn't going to agree to anything without fully considering the consequences.

Mrs. Oh's reaction was the last thing I expected. She grinned like a Cheshire cat, as if my words were a clever ploy rather than a genuine request. "Oh god, look how genius she is. That's what a real woman exactly would say. They never accept anything at once. It's okay, take your time baby."

Mr. Park suggested we have dessert, and I welcomed the distraction. The conversation had been bitter, and I was ready to move on from it.

Sehun started a conversation with me, his voice soft and gentle. "I hope you'll make the right decision. It would be great if we could hang out somewhere, anywhere you like. We can get to know each other better; I'm not forcing you though." He seemed a bit shy and focused on chopping his dessert.  Sehun's words took me aback. Hang out? Get closer? Is he already thinking about our relationship? My mind was racing with a million thoughts as I looked at him, trying to read his expression.
