Liam Anderson

Liam's POV

"You should totally ask her out dude!" Jake, my friend said to me during lunch. "You like her and maybe she likes you back. I mean she isn't mean to you. So I think that you have a shot." My other friend, Leonard chuned in.

"You guys really think that?" I asked them really hoping that this wasn't a joke. "Yes! For God's sake ask her out!" They both screamed a little bit too loud.

To back up; I'm Liam Anderson, an architect at a big firm in New York. I have brown eyes and brown hair and I'm hopelessly single. But I'm hoping to find 'the one' soon. And I think I found her, her name is Annabeth Chase. A true goddess if you ask me. She works here for a couple months now and you are a fan of Annabeth or you hate or. The most male and some females have a crush on her, including me. And others envy her because of her intelligence, beauty and successes.

And I'm going to ask her out on a date. I mean, I haven't spotted a ring. So my chances are high I think. We both love architecture and books. When we have kids we could go on roadtrips and visit famous buildings.

"You know what guys? I'm gonna do it." I replied with a confident smile. "But first I need to win her over." I continued, which my friends groaned at. "Don't do this again Liam, we know that you mean it well. But it kinda sounds and is creepy." Leonard said.

"Yeah, you probably thought about kids and your family nickname." Jake continued. "The Architecture Andersons." I murmured. "See, relax bro. Just ask her out, be yourself and don't do the 'win her over' thing." Leonard said.

"Well, no." And they groaned again. "Oh, come on guys! It's really going to work this time!" I said, and with that my plan began.

So I have a couple of steps for my plan:

Step 1:

Wait for some time and get to know her.

Step 2:

Find the same interests.

Step 3:

Ask her out.

Simple, right? So after weeks of work and talking and lunches, I'm finally at step 3. So today around 4 p.m. I'm asking her out.

------ Time Skip to 4 p.m. --------

"Hey, there's my favourite architect!" I call while entering Annabeth's office. She is working on some blueprints while smiling up at me. "Hey Liam. What are you doing here? I'm about to go home after these blueprints."

"So, u- uhm I wanted to ask you something..." I said and saw her face fall. "Oh." was her answer, but I kept hope. "Maybe we could catch a movie sometime, or go to dinner. See I really like you Annabeth and I think that I could make you very happy."

"Look Liam -" She began, but I interrupted her. "We could also do something else!" I was fearing she was going to say no. "Everything you want! Or we could go to your house..." I said with a smirk. "I get it if you just want a fling. Or it could happen more often." And then we fall in love, I thought to myself. She looked at me and smirked back.

"Yeah, sure. Maybe my boyfriend can come too? He would love the movies or dinner. But I don't think that the fling is really his thing." Annabeth replied and I felt devastated.

"You have a boyfriend?!" I asked with wide eyes and mouth half open from the shock. "Well, yeah. I talked about him to you, you know. Like a lot. It's Percy." And then it all became clear. She didn't mean that he was just some guy she was living with or with whom she had dinners and went to some summer camp when they were younger. I ignored all the signs. That were there so clearly.

"Well he isn't going to be my boyfriend for any longer." My face lit up at this.

"I found a engagement ring a few days back."

"But, what about the Architecture Andersons?" I murmured, but she heard me. "What?"

"Uhm, nothing. Noting. I'm so sorry I bothered you. Have a nice life Annabeth." I started walking out, but by the door I had a sudden burst of recklessness and started to confess my love.

"No! I will not accept that answer! I love you Annabeth! And you belong with me. I don't care that you are getting engaged soon. Screw Percy!"

"Well it's not like that hasn't ever happened before." She muttered.

I opened my mouth to say something, but didn't know what too angry to say anything. So I only balled my hands into fists and screamed instead, "Well I don't care, Percy can sell the ring and you can be with me!"

"So you know." A male voice behind me replied. Looking in the voice's direction and there stood a man with messy raven black hair and striking sea green eyes. With a buttoned up shirt and nice pants on standing in shock at the door frame. Annabeth seemed to have that effect on the people around her.

"Yeah, I was cleaning and you didn't hide it that well. It was just in your pocket Seaweed Brain. It doesn't magically go in the right pocket like Riptide you know." She said with a smile and he smiled back still at the door frame. This confused me even more. But I didn't bother to ask and figured that this must be Percy.

Then Percy focused on me. "And what were you doing yelling at my girlfriend?!" Percy asked me. "I-I was just going to ask her out. But then she joked and I started Uhm..." Percy stared at me with threatening eyes.

"Uhm confessing my love to her and our future children." I said.

Percy was going to say something, but got interrupted by Annabeth standing up and walking over to him. "It's nothing Perce. Though it is kinda creepy." She said to him while looking at me with disgust. Percy tried to interfere and kept staring angry at me. "Percy, I have to fight my own battles. You can't always help me or anyone all the time. I know that's your fatal flaw but you can't. I can handle this." "I know Beth, but this guy was yelling at you." He replied. "If you will wait for me in the hall for a second I will handle this." Annabeth replied.

He looked desperate, I don't know for what. To stay or help her. But he left just as she asked and closed the door behind him. After staring daggers at me for one last time. After he left I let out a sigh and was left with Annabeth again.

"Sorry he is just protective of me. But he is right though." Annabeth said "And he won't beat you up or something Liam. He's a decent guy." She said. "You did see how he stared at me right? And where the f*ck where you talking about? Fatal flaws, magic, Riptide and Seaweed Brain?!" I yelled again at her. The smile on Annabeth's face disappeared. And she became angry.

"Liam, you've yelled at me two times tonight and insulted me and my boyfriend. And I don't owe you any explanation at all. I don't want to talk or have anything to do with you anymore. You are a creep and really pushy. I let you down easy but you kept pushing. I don't want to date you, marry you, have kids with you and have anything to do with what the hell the Architecture Andersons are." She said frustrated. "Now I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day with my lovely boyfriend and you leave us alone." And with that she stormed out and didn't look back.

That's how I met Percabeth and lost Annabeth.
