Leif POV
Could today get any worse? That's what I was thinking a couple hours ago. I know, it was tempting fate. Hel the Norns probably love it when I do that. Today has been the absolute worst day I have ever had the pain of living through. I woke up this morning with a father, a sister, and a hold on my anger issues.
Now? My father is injured again, his prosthetic right arm had been ripped off for the first time since he had put it on after the whole Fenrir incident. My sister was dead, a Jotnar Blade through her heart after they snuck assassins into the peace delegation to meet with my father, Tyr, Current Ruler of Asgard. And my anger issues? Whew, it might be easier to go through it from the beginning rather than summarizing. Covered in black Frost Jotnar blood and holding my father's blade with a murderous look in my eye is not really the best way to defend myself.
So I'm going back to this morning. That way I can watch the chaos unfold and see where it all went wrong
Flashback
I woke up at least an hour before the sun rose over Asgard. Today would be quite a long day. I stretched and slung my uncle Ullr's bow over my shoulder and strapped some hunting knives to my thighs. Ever since he had passed his domains down to me a decade ago, I had become the Norse God of the Hunt and Games. Though I do love these domains, I still miss my uncle, espicially since my mother had passed into the void a long time ago, passing the Domain of Autumn to my little sister Bridgette.
Speaking of Bridgette, As I walked out of my room, I saw my raven haired sister in the Cloak of Autumn, a hooded cloak made of red autumnal leaves that was her Symbol of Power. She smiled and walked over to me, linking her small arm in my larger one. I may only look like a Midgardian teenager, but I am older than their oldest sage. But we gods age differently than the other beings of the nine realms.
As she linked her arm in mine, I flipped her hood of crimson leaves down and messed with her hair. She was at least a head and a half shorter than me with her long raven hair and calming yellow eyes. Today though, she had a large smile and an excitement in her eyes that had orange and red flecks in her eyes to dance and shine like a campfire. All in all? She was adorable. She has a couple daggers hidden on her person since she is the daughter of the God of War after all, but really? Bridgette isn't a fighter. She is more of an explorer. As such, she wants to explore the nine realms, even Hel to my great surprise. I was musing on this as we walked towards the throne room. But I didn't get far into my thoughts as my rambunctious little sister hates silence. She just can't deal with it all that well. So she elbowed me softly in the ribs to get my attention. I turned my golden gaze towards her with great mirth and amusement in my eyes. Her fire-like eyes danced as she spoke to me.
"Hey bro! Are you excited for today? We're finally going to meet the Frost Giants without violence! Maybe we can achieve peace. That would be nice. Then you could take me on a hunt in Jotunheim!"
I shook my head. Bridgette is way too trusting. Here I am on edge and fretting the moment I wake up and she is already planning our first hunt in Jotunheim. Honestly it's like she is chaos wrapped up in an adorable little package. But she doesn't know that relations with them are at the worst since I have been alive.
"Come now Bridgette, you know that it won't be so easy. They have been our enemies since father was young. I highly doubt that one peace summit will solve the deep issues between our peoples."
Needless to say, my sister's determination was not swayed by a little thing like fact. She actually started pouting and jumping up and down as we walked down the hallways, earning chuckles from the guards and a giggle from a passing shield maiden.
