Thursday morning when I walked into the hallways of the school, I didn't know my day was going to turn out in a complete different way of how I expected it to be.

First of all, it started by me getting the first detention of my life. I know !! I still couldn't believe it. I was actually running late for the fifth time of the year -which before I met him it was never happening- and of course, the teachers had to apply a punishment. I was gonna finish an hour later -at 4PM and a half- than the rest of my class who will finish at 3 and a half.
Then, it continued by witnessing a surprising - almost shocking - scene, at lunch time. I was sitting at a table and in front of me was Diggy and Olivia.
"Hey" a flirty voice said to Olivia.
We all stopped eating and lifted up our heads to see Ethan. I directly saw Diggy having an annoyed face on.
"Can I sit right here ?" Ethan softly asked and without even waiting for the answer, he brought a chair between Diggy and Olivia's seat. Diggy pushed himself to let him some place and once Ethan was sat, he turned to Olivia. He started to talk to her. Laughing. Making jokes. Flirting. Winking. And you know what was Olivia doing ? Nothing. Except for giggling and twirling her hair. I was almost as angry as Diggy, but the poor guy had sadness and jealousy as a plus. She even bit her lip at one time. Is she even serious ?! And Diggy who wasn't saying anything.
I looked at him, insistent, making him understand to do something. I was sure he got my message, but he just turned away and remained silent. Really ?? Him, Diggy Simmons ?? He's always super jealous but does something about it ! Why wasn't he reacting ?? I couldn't believe it.

Third of all, I didn't see Eric of the day, though I searched for him. Everytime I was walking in the hallways, I was looking around to see him. I wanted to talk to him about what happened, and eventually apologize. But I didn't see him. I decided to come talk to Larry, a guy I knew was friend with him.
"Hey, Larry !"
"Oh, hey Maddie" he smiled while getting books out of his locker.
"Um, do you know where Eric is ?" I asked, awkward.
Larry suddenly hesitated. "Uh..."
"Yes...?"
"Uh, um, well, um, he's...he's..."
"He's...?"
"He's here. I mean, he's at school today. It's weird you didn't see him."
"He really is ?" I raised an eyebrow, suspicious.
Larry stressfully nodded.
"Okay... Thank you..."
I walked away, thoughtful. If Eric was here at school and I wasn't seeing him nowhere...was he avoiding me ??

And the fourth, last, most shocking event of the day happened after all of this, when I was in detention. Things really got crazy.

I was sitting since ten minutes in my seat and in the room was only two other students, Malcolm, and a one I only knew from sight. A supervisor was sitting behind the principal desk, on his phone.
Fun fact : In this school, we jokingly call the supervisors the "Peace Keepers", like in the Hunger Games series. It's because they are not "entirely peaceful", like Hamich said in Catching Fire. They scream a lot to make us respect the rules though they don't need to, and that nickname is also kind of sarcastic, because they aren't a very big use, that they're here or not, most of students don't care  and don't follow their orders. I think that at one point, most of the Peace Keepers gave up and didn't even try to instruct people around, realizing none of them were respecting the rules. If that Peace Keeper could, I think he would've already left the school today - right now was his last hour- because that he was here or not, the people in detention were doing the same thing. But it was his job, so he had to stay.
I was just doing my math exercises when the door opened, letting a nonchalent Trevor come in. Of course, he was obviously in detention.
"You're late" the Peace Keeper said.
"Do you even care ?" Trevor replied as he closed the door and sat on my right, a few sits away from me.
The Peace Keeper shrugged and got back to what he was doing.
Trevor glanced at me while he got out some books out of his bag. Surprised, I looked at him. Since when was he working ? Wasn't he sleeping, usually ? Weird...
I shrugged. It wasn't important. It wasn't even interesting. I got back to work and didn't look at him for the rest of the hour, and tried to not think of him.

Nothing happened until the bell rang and we got out slowly, silently, slackly. I turned to the left to get to my locker to get some books and then I will finally go out of this damn school. I saw Trevor heading to the man's bathroom, but tried to not pay attention to it.
As I opened my locker, I felt like something was going on. Like...somebody was watching me. When I turned around, I could see that indeed, I wasn't alone. Malcolm was standing behind me, watching me.
I closed my locker, books in my hands. "What do you want ?"
He smirked and walked to me. I never really liked him. He was kinda...scary. He was not the nicest guy on earth, not that sympathic.
"I've been waiting for this moment" he smirked even more.
"For what ?" I asked, my voice shaking a bit.
"To be alone with you."
I gulped. "For what ?" I repeated.
"So that I could show you what I think of you stupid ass" he spit.
Surprised, I raised both of my eyebrows.
"What ??"
"What ??" Malcolm mocked me in a girly voice. "You got on my nerves for so many years. You were so annoying, so stupid, believing you were the best at everything. I let it go. No one's perfect. But this year, you wanted to get in my way, I see. And people shouldn't mess with me."
"What did I do ?"
"What did you do ? What did you do ?!!" he raised his voice. "You made a fool of me ! In front of everyone !!"
"How ?? I didn't mean to do it, I'm sor-"
"I don't care !! Everyone knows how Trevor's my worst enemy, even the teachers. And you defend him, stay with him and all those lovey-dovey stuff while everyone knows I want to date you !! Don't you know how humiliated I felt ?!"
"D...date me ???"
I was so shocked. I never knew that of him. I felt so bad.
"You gon' pay."
"No..." I shook my head. "Please, Malcolm..."

Malcolm knocked the books out of my hands, and laughed. "Whatcha gonna do now, huh ?" he said.
He pushed me against the wall.
"Leave me alone" I pleaded as I got my books back together.
"Or what ?" he asked as he pushed me again, this time the books getting dropped by me.
"You gon' call little lover boy ? Wait...is it Eric, or is it Trevor ?" he sniggered. "You little hoe"
He spit on me and pushed me again. And another time. And a third time. Until I fell. He kicked me. It wasn't too painful for me to scream, but painful enough for me to whine.
"Stop it" I said, about to tear up. I was hurt physically, but also mentally. I closed my eyes to try to support the pain, in vain.
"Yo !!" toned a deep, huge voice in the empty hallway.
Suddenly, Malcolm got pulled away from me by a magic force and against the other wall.
"Hey !!" Malcolm said.
"Don't fucking touch her !" he yelled as he punched Malcolm in the face.
It was him. He was here. For me.
And he was destroying Malcolm.
This one fell on the floor but as soon as his butt touched the ground, Trevor got him back up on his feet by pulling his shirt, and punched him the face twice then kicked his balls.
"Don't ever come near her again" Trevor spat. "Or else I'll kick your a-"
"Mr. Jackson, Fond and Miss Wilson !!" the principal's voice resonated in the hallway.
