I followed Draco down the moving staircases, passing the talking paintings along the way. "Here's the library." He said, stopping in his tracks. We walked inside and he led me through the shelves, stocked with dusty books. I ran my fingers along the worn down spines. Too focused on the books, I hadn't noticed Draco had stopped walking. I bumped into him and went bright red, apologising profusely. "I'm so sorry!" I said. He glared at me and pushed past, walking towards the door of the library. I hurried after him, "Draco, wait up!" I finally managed to catch up to him at the top of the stairs.
"Come on, I'm bringing you to the Slytherin common room." He said. I nodded and followed him down the winding hallways, into the dungeon. "Pureblood" He muttered. The doors opened and we stepped inside the big green and black common room.
I looked around at the long sofas, the green windows and the huge fireplace. It felt like home. "It's beautiful.." I whispered. "Hm? Oh, well I suppose it is." Draco said. I turned to him and smiled "Thank you for taking me on this tour" He nodded at me, staying silent. I looked at my fathers pocketwatch and gasped. "I'm going to be late for my first class!" I said aloud. Draco looked at me and thought for a moment. "I suppose I can take you." He said. "Really?? Thank you so much!" I was so happy, I almost hugged him.
I followed him through the building to a dusty classroom with a few minutes to spare before class started. I turned to him, "thank you again for bringing me here. Does this mean we're friends?" I asked. He looked me up and down, before checking if anyone else was around. "I suppose we can be friends. Just friends." He said before spinning on his heel and walking back down the corridor.
I sat down at a front desk and fantasised about Draco the entire lesson. "Just friends" He had said. I'm okay with that.. right? I mean, Pansy seems pretty territorial over him. Are they dating? "Focus on your work Y/N." I thought to myself. But no matter how hard I tried to focus, Draco kept slipping into my mind.
After class, I went to the Great Hall to find Draco. There he was sitting with Pansy, and his friends that I later learned to be named Crabbe and Goyle. They were nice enough, but Pansy made it clear she hated me. I could already tell dorming with her would be hell.
"Why did I have to come to this stupid school?" I said under my breath. "What was that?" Draco asked, snapping me out of my daydream. "She said why did she have to come to this stupid school" Pansy said, clearly trying to embarrass me. Everyone at the Slytherin table was watching my every move, wondering what I was going to do next. I could feel myself going red. "I just miss my old friends I guess." I replied, quietly. Pansy laughed and rolled her eyes. "Well why bother coming here in the first place then?" She sneered. "Oh hush Parkinson, she's clearly feeling homesick" Draco said. I smiled at him sticking up for me.
When the bell rang, I walked back to my dorm, Pansy following suit. "Y/N!" She yelled after me. "Don't ignore me you little bitch!" I suddenly felt a hand grab my arm and pull me back. "What do you want Pansy?" I said. "You stay away from Draco" she hissed "He's mine." I yanked my arm away from her and rolled my eyes. "Draco and I are just friends." I said. His words had been replaying in my head all day. "Just friends.." I thought.
