Annabeth POV

As I fall, I feel very little regret. All the pain I've endured in my life gave me license. But then I saw Piper's face. Leo's. Jason's. Hazel's. Frank's. Nico's. Percy's. All the people who I have ever loved and loved me back. Oh, what have I done. How could I do th... my thoughts cut off as I hit the water. All I see is murk. And then, I see nothing at all.

Percy POV

I drive onto the Brooklyn Bridge to see cars stopped. I know what has happened. I immediately slams on my brakes and throw open my door. I run to the railing, mindlessly shoving people out of my way. I arrive in time to see familiar blonde hair hit the water. "Annabeth!" "Annabeth!" I scream, over and over until I can't scream it anymore, "ANNABETH!!!!!!"

My world collapsed and I felt myself shatter apart. I sunk down against the railing, and in a voice as broken and weary as soul was, "Annabeth?" A question. A prayer. A broken boy hoping against hope his friend, the girl he was in love with, had survived the 13.5 story drop and was not lying on the bottom of a river, all her bones fractured.

Suddenly I hear the sound of a motor boat, and I jump up and glance over the railing. A coast guard motor boat surfing through the water, searching for my Annabeth. I quickly drove my car to the side of the bridge where it would bother no one, and headed down the path to the river. Once I reached the shore, I jumped in and swam over to the coast guard boat. One of the people, a tall muscular woman, introduced herself as Bellona. "You know the jumper, kid?" She asked. I nod vigorously.

"Her name is Annabeth Chase. She's my friend. Is there a chance she'll live?" Bellona nods.

"If we find her, girls got a decent chance. A 13.5 story fall isn't too bad. People have survived the Golden Gate, which is 22 stories, so..." I feel relief, then terror again as I think about Annabeth's current state.

I slowly look up at Bellona and whisper, "What if she was already hurt." Bellona's eyes widen and she asks no more questions. Suddenly she starts yelling at the searching divers to pick up the pace. After an agonizing moment, a diver appears hold Annabeth over his shoulder. He lays her on the boat and tilts her head and she's... not responding.

She coughs. I suddenly sag against the side of the boat in relief. She's alive my Annabeth is alive. But then get to the hospital, and the doctors start yelling about rushing her to surgery, and I wonder if that state of life will last. I call Piper, who calls every one else. I sit and wait for Annabeth to get out of surgery.
