What In The Gobble?!

You will never believe what happened to me! That old farmer Dan tried to catch me and cook me for the Thanksgiving Feast! Scary right? I know! I think I took him by surprise though. He tried to catch me out by the barn and I just zipped right out of his reach (teleported to be exact) and was standing behind him before he could say Happy Thanksgiving. I was scared out of my feathers. What in the gobble was he thinking? I know I am a turkey, but gobb-lee I am an animal too and I have a job on this farm and that is to keep us animals in line. So if he was going to try to catch me and make me the grand prize at Thanksgiving, he had another thing coming.

So I ran and I found Hank the cow dog and asked him for help seeing how this situation was life or death, I had to find Hank. He said he would but it was going to cost me. I don't know what yet but if I could get away from farmer Dan, I owed him my life.

So we snuck off and found an old red cover sheet farmer Dan used to cover up his tools and he wrapped that thing around my neck. At first I thought he was going to kill me because we all know that a dog is a man's best friend and they would do anything for their owners. So I gobbled and he barked at me and told me to keep quiet and be still. So I did. And the next thing I knew he took another small piece of sheet and covered up my eyes. Oh I knew, this was it. He really was trying to help out farmer Dan! Until, he pinned me down and ripped two holes in my eyes so that I could see. When I looked at Hank all out of breath and heart pounding, he was smiling at me. Now that is something no turkey wants to see. Hank said, "Now your ready, no one will know." That really made me think. What was he talking about? I found an old mirror in the corner of the barn and looked at myself. I looked like a Superhero! And a dog! I had the cape, and the mask, heck, I even had ears from an old dog headband he found lying on the ground and a tail made from an old rag. I was impressed. I stuck my chest out and did a fine gobble but Hank barked, "NO! Don't say a word otherwise farmer Dan will know." So I kept my beak shut and took one last look in the mirror and was ready.

I crept out of the barn taking Hanks lead and following every step he took until he lead me towards the field when I heard farmer Dan say, "Now where could that turkey have gone?" He really had no idea! He was standing on the front porch looking around and I was right in front of him! Gobb-lee! It worked! He looked my way and made a curious face but he really didn't know.

Hours passed by as the sun started to go down and I kept my place. I layed down by the old oak tree and kept my head down so he wouldn't think any more suspicious thoughts. Farmer Dan jumped into his truck and was leaving down the dirt road. Not too long after farmer Dan left, he returned. He had something big in his hands. As I squinted to take a better look, the front porch light showed my worst nightmare, a plucked turkey! The next thing I knew I was seeing stars in my eyes and felt dizzy and faint and that was all I remember of Thanksgiving day.
