I nervously bit my bottom lip and waited for the Facetime call to appear on my screen.

My dad wants to do Facetime at least once a week to catch up.

I wasn't opposed to them until I realized I'd have to lie to my family. They can't know I'm pretending to be married to Mark, Mark Thomas, the son of the man who ruined my family's life.

Meliana isn't here either to comfort me. Aaron and her met in town for a date since he doesn't leave for school until next week.

I should've gone to a different school.

Somewhere Mark Thomas can never find me.

The incoming Facetime call made me jump even though I knew it was coming.

I took in a deep breath before pressing the answer button.

Lorenzo's face is all I see on the frame and he's sticking out his tongue.

"Seriously?" I snort and he laughs, backing away from the camera.

My little brother is a goofball and the complete opposite of me. He's what you call a very social butterfly and has a free personality.

Lorenzo was born when I was four years old. He was one when our dad was sent to jail.

He had a hard time growing up without our dad and I know he hides his negative feelings well, but he's told me before how much he hates Alfredo Thomas. And this is coming from someone who couldn't even hurt a fly.

"How was your first day of high school?" I crossed my legs and pushed back my laptop for a better angle.

Lorenzo shrugs, "It was cool. Coach Vienez announced at lunch that tryouts for baseball are this Friday. I was thinking of joining."
