"August!" Dovey looked startled, for August had been standing very still, looking like a statue. He smiled. "Hello Dovey. We need to talk." He said. She nodded. "Okay. Walk with me August."
They traveled down the hallway, walking to breakfast. "We need to prepare." August said in a low voice. "Excuse me?" Dovey stopped walking and turned to August. "The prophecy.....its....coming." He said carefully.
"The prophecy? Why would we need to prepare for the prophecy? Can you say it again for me?" Dovey said gently. August responded with, " The ones that have no clue, the ones that the Endless Forest choose, are the ones that will save us all." Dovey nodded alongside August. "Okay. I will talk to Lady Lesso." August smiled and walked off, getting to get ready for class.
Dovey finally found Lesso giving a student a doom room detention. The kid scampered off, scared to get in trouble again. Lesso stalked over to Dovey. " That kid.....I can't even right now. Kids these days. Is there anything you want to talk about?" Lesso took in Dovey worried eyes and gestured to follow her into her office/classroom.
"Yes Dovey?" Lesso sat down behind her teachers desk, starting to grade some papers.
"August warned me. He said we need to prepare. It's about the prophecy." Lesso nodded. "I will get the shield up later today."
When the Dean of good got up to leave, Lady Lesso called out, "You be careful, alright?" Dovey nodded, and walked briskly out of the door.
Lesso sighed and prepared for her next class.
Exactly nine minutes later, a steady stream of kids trickled into the classroom door. And one of them included the new kid, that stuck out like a sore hand. Sophie, she said her name was.
--------
This is going to be a long class. It was the first thought that popped in her head when she took one look at the teacher behind the icy desk in the front. Sophie was already freezing, and she had walked in two seconds ago.
She shivered as the teacher started the lesson, who introduced herself as Lady Lesso, Dean of evil. "For today's lesson, you will be using your talent to fight your opponent. But since Sophie just got here yesterday, why don't you show us your talent?" She turned toward Sophie, and smiled an evil smile.
"Umm.....I-" Sophie stuttered. She had no idea what she was talking about, but the one thing that she truly remembered from the storybooks back home was that the princesses could call animals.
She took a deep breath, and was about to call out when Lady Lesso cut her off. "Actually, why don't you surprise us? You will fight........Dot!" Dot looked up from where her desk was only standing on two legs, and the top was one quarter away from pulling a disappearing act.
"What did you do to the desk young lady? Nevermind, get up here and face your opponent!" Lesso demanded. Dot gulped, and stood up as the Dean of Evil did a sweep of her hand and a small portion of the classroom was cleared away for them to 'fight'.
Sophie stood awkwardly as Lesso counted down. "two, one, FIGHT!!!" She commanded. Sophie whistled what she hoped was a bird call. A second later, something banged against the classroom window. It grew louder, and larger until the window broke and a cloud of black bees buzzed into the room and flew towards Dot.
Sophie panicked, and whistled again. More bees came through the window, going towards Dot. Dot had turned some to chocolate, but there was too much for her. Just as they were about to eat Dot alive, Lady Lesso snapped her fingers and the bees disappeared. Dot and Hester stared in disbelief at Sophie.
"That.....I...." Sophie had been trying to summon a bird, not monsters! She was not not a monster! "That wasn't-" Lady Lesso cut her off. " Finally. Finally someone with a talent instead of these numbskulls over there!" Lesso gestured to Dot.
A golden 1 appeared over Sophie's head, as a 20 appeared over Dot's head. Other numbers appeared over the other kids in the room. Hester got a copper 2. The ell rang and everyone trudged towards the door. Sophie started shivering, but not from the cold.
Later that day, Lady Lesso stood in front of the school, closing her eyes. She stretched out her arms, and started to form a type of bubble over the schools. She made it so if someone touched it or they tampered with it, they would get badly shocked. She smiled, and made her way back inside.
She would be ready for whatever threat was to come.
