The year was 1944 and the dark green glow from the Slytherin common room illuminated your face as you scanned the pages of the book. It was 2 a.m. and it was particularly troubling falling asleep tonight as the rain pounded at the windows and thunder struck, causing you to startle. Not even the warm fire was heard crackling as it usually was, it felt as though the only thing keeping you warm was the thick cashmere sweater you were wearing. The common room was deserted at this time in the a.m., everyone sleeping as the wind outside was sounding like the yelps and cries of someone begging for help, how they slept through this storm? that's a question you didn't have an answer for.
Engrossed in the piece of muggle literature in front of you that a Hufflepuff gave you to read a couple of weeks back you couldn't understand why it was so forbidden for this Romeo bloke to date his beloved Juliet. Talk about a complicated situation.
Minutes or hours passed until you felt the couch at the other end sink and let out a loud gasp, the face across from you gave a pleased smirk. Chocolate tousled hair, striking eyes, and dark green sleepwear with a black cloak overtop, this person was none other than Tom Riddle himself. You gave a loud scoff and a roll of your eyes, of course, he would be awake at this time.
His gaze didn't waiver from yours and you really wanted to know what he was playing at, it was him who decided to take the seat next to you. His arms were crossed over his chest and he was not speaking, only looking at you, you finally decide to break the tension,
"What do you want Riddle" you said sounding irritated because while he was nice to look at if he wasn't going to invoke a conversation, he was really just keeping you from your reading.
It took him a moment to respond, his eyes lingering at your bare legs that made you unconsciously bring them closer to you,
"Nothing from you l/n, just wanted to clear my thoughts in the common room, but it seems as though there was already someone here" he eyed you up and down, "so, I thought, well I really don't have anything better to do, so let's bother whoever it is, and to my greatest displeasure it was you" he looked away scanning the room. Since second year there was a mutual agreement that you guys did not want anything to do with each other, but that didn't stop him from throwing snarky remarks and comments at you every possibility that he could.
"As if I'm jumping with joy you're here to interrupt my reading, you can happily go upstairs, you won't be missed" his brow lifted and he gave you a side smirk, he scooted closer to you now sitting right where you have your legs curled up to your body, you felt a cold shiver down your back.
