CHAPTER 17 - I Hear You

"F-Fuegoleon..?" You questioned when he hugged your from behind. The Wisteria trees you've come to hate changed in your view once more.

"I've always told you to stop crying..."

"But now I realized that only I can see your tears so I'll stay here until you stop crying" he told you as your heart fastened it's pace.

"Fue.. Fuegoleon—!" You said while you finally burst into tears as your cries became louder, letting out your years worth of grief.

"I'm sorry for everything." He said.

"I've caused you grief without realizing it. It was selfish of me to think that you're strong and can withstand anything... but... You're still human, aren't you?" He said as you gripped his robe tightly.

"I'm the one who stole your heart but I somehow can't give you an answer" he laughed gently.

"You can say that I'm worst than scum for not returning a woman's love" he said as you held him tighter.

"N-no... You're wrong.." you said as he was taken aback at your words. "Eh?" He said in utter surprise.

"I wasn't like this before... You've changed me for the better, Fuegoleon" you looked at him with your teary eyes.

"I guess you still don't understand..."

"How much I..."

"... Love you..." You finished off. That's when everything stopped in the captain's world. His heart fastened it's pace as you smiled like him. He saw a flashing figure of his first time seeing you to now.

"With that said... I think we should head back Fuegoleon-sama" you said, wiping your tears away. You noticed that Fuegoleon was frozen on his spot.

"Fuegoleon-sama?" You asked as he moved towards you, holding out his hand. He compiled multiple strands of your hair in his palm and kissed them.

"E..ehhh?" You said in a flustered manner.

"As I thought... You're really something else" he said with a smile as you took a step back from embarrassment.

"B-baka..." You moved your hand to shield your face and looked away. He only gave you a closed eyes smile.

"How do you do that..." You trailed off while turning around so he can't see your face.

"Do what?" He asked you as you clenched your fist.

"Make me fall in love with you all over again!" you shouted.

'I'm glad...'  Fuegoleon thought.

"Come on, let's go back" he said while walking away. You looked at his figure, trying to reach him. You covered your mouth, about to cough.

'It seems like I can't get through him afterall' you thought with a smiled while coughing.

But little did you know that you'll be faced off with a greater threat.

"En.. engagement?" You whispered at the lady who spoke about her presence. When you've returned back to the Vermillion household, a woman has been announced to be Fuegoleon's future wife.

You looked at them converse, what's this? You can't seem to hear anything. Your world was turning grey and words began to sound like static.

You were alone again—

No. You were alone from the start.

Fuegoleon looked at your surprised figure as you smiled at him. It seems like you were alright with this but he knows better, your eyes says it all.

"Who is this Fuegoleon?" The noble woman asked as you bowed in respect.

"Good day lady Alice. I'm (Y/n), a servant in the house of Vermillion's" you said as Fuegoleon furrowed his eyebrows at you. This was the first time you've addressed yourself as a servant aloud.

You knew that he would call you his friend but today is different. You're nothing but a servant to the Vermillion's.

"Ah I see, very well, it's a pleasure to meet those who have served such Royalty" she said with a smile and you mirrored her smile.

"Of course, lady Alice" you said and excused yourself.

"I hope the marriage goes well. I trust you to take care of Fuegoleon-sama" you chuckled and so did she. You finally closed the doors and went to a place very familiar to you other than the Vermillion's household.

You knocked on the door and there stood Charlotte Roselei. "(Y/n)..?" She asked with concerned eyes. She let you in and offered you some tea.

Your tears was flowing freely from your face. "Why..." You clenched your fist as the beautiful captain looked at you with worry.

"What happened, (Y/n)?" She asked firmly as if she was commanding her knights.

"Fuegoleon's engaged. I'm happy for him but... I... feel so shattered" you told her as she widened her eyes at the thought of the Vermillion being engaged.

"Fuegoleon's a crafty man, I'm sure he'll find something out to break this engagement. I'm certain that this noble lady isn't the one he seeks" she said as you smiled at her.

You coughed loudly and blood spurred out of your mouth. Charlotte was alarmed and realized that you've also coughed... flowers?

If there's on thing she knows about a disease, it's on related to flowers. "You have Hanahaki..." She said, more worried than before.

Suddenly, a bird appeared and a letter was given to you. You took it and excused yourself immediately. The letter was from the Wizard King and he wants to meet you immediately.

"(Y/n), I have found something out about your clan that you might be interested in" he said as you nodded, pushing away Fuegoleon's engagement.

"Hai." You said, signalling him to continue.

"Your clan holds a certain Holy sword that was treasured for centuries. It seems like the only one to access that is a person who has the blood of the (L/n)'s" he said as you nodded.

"Where is this sword?" You asked as he grew serious.

"It's somewhere far away, somewhere out of reach of this kingdom" he replied, handing you a map.

"It seems like a lot of people had interest in stealing it so they're most likely to get your blood first" he warned.

"That explains it... All those attempts" you whispered.

"I have a mission for you but it's your choice if you'll accept" he told you as you signalled to continue.

"I have a feeling that we'll need that Holy sword for the future so I ask of you to obtain it and return to Clover."

"It might take you years and you'll be forced to quit the Magic Knights. I assure you that you can join the Magic Knights again once you've returned, I'll be glad if you did" he said as you thought about it.

"I'll have to think about it first.. years is a long time. If I've disappeared tomorrow then I already set my goal on it" you said and bowed, excusing yourself.

"Fuegoleon... I need to consult you on this" you said and looked at the midnight sky. It was already dark, perhaps he's in his chambers.
