Korrasami and Catradora

Chapter 8

We regrouped back at air temple island after the encounter we had with the new horde group. We are all gathered around the table having some tea in attempt to keep everyone calm while the monks load up a few flying bison for us to take to Brightmoon.

"So Korra tell us more about your time spent fighting with the rebellion against these enemies...I believe you called them Horde?" You can always leave it to Tenzin to start with business. Him and Lin have that in common, always business first—granted this time it's warranted.

"Right. I'll tell you what I know but it might be best for Adora or Catra to tell you. They've dealt with them their whole lives and actually were apart of the horde once." I tell them.

"Wait you guys played for the enemy? Can we trust you?" Bolin started to wide eye stare at them inspecting them for any signs that they may be the enemy.

"Easy Bolin. We can trust them. They helped defeat them." I realize what I just said and correct myself. "Well we thought we defeated them. Regardless though we can trust them."

"Seriously, there's no way we're going back to those scum." Catra's face looks disgusted just even thinking about them. "They nearly ruined our lives and our home."

"She's right." Adora starts while grabbing Catra's hand. Aww they're so cute. "We have to stop them before they try to take over your city."

"Take over what exactly?" It was Makos turn to step in. He's going all police detective mode right now.

"Take over everything. Your citizens, friends, family, and ultimately your city. He took our loved ones from us by using a chip to control them," Adora pauses looking towards Catra who reached for the back of her neck. "It was horrible. We almost lost until Korra came and helped us fight back. Together—along with a few of my best friends—we were able to beat Horde Prime and get our loved ones back."

"Did someone say brainwashing?!" Varrick had impeccable timing.

"Uh yeah. We did. The leader, Horde Prime, used some sort of chip implant to control everyone....including me." Catra answered Varrick hesitantly.

"Well that's brilliant!! I mean not for you kid but it's great news!" Varrick continues. Zhu li came walking in shortly after holding a bunch of maps.

"Jui li! Do the thing!"

Adora and Catra share confused looks with each other. At this time Asami whispered to them that this is normal and to not worry. I chuckle to myself remembering what it was like meeting Varrick for the first time.

Jui li then does "the thing" which this time happens to lay out the maps she was carrying on the table.

"Varrick what are you—" Tenzin started but was quickly interrupted by Varrick.

"As you can see from this map they attacked here, here, and here." He points to the stadium, city hall, and the University as zhu Li places markers on each location. "From the intel I've gathered the 'Horde' as you call them fled to this location where I—" Zhu Li jabs Varrick in the side, "—I mean we believe they are staying."

"You mean to tell me this new enemy has been staying has been staying the Foggy Swamp? That can't be." Lin crosses her arms not believing Varrick.

"Hmm...it does make for good cover. No one would dare follow them in there or visit there on their own free whim." Mako states. He looks to be deep in thought studying the map and what he's been told.  "Varrick, did your intel tell you anything more about them?"

"Why yes. What do you want to know exactly."

Mako rolls his eyes. "Like what weapons they have, how many people there are, what they want. You know, the basics."

"I have no idea how many people there are. I'd say hundreds at least based off of the damage they did. I do know it's a mix of benders and non-benders of people who have recently gone missing in these surrounding towns and villages." He gestures to half the Earth kingdom.

I look to Asami who seems worried. She catches me looking at her and I didn't know what else to do so I panicked and just smiled and continued to stare. She chuckles at me and that causes my cheeks to go red.

"I don't like the sounds of that." Tenzin has his worried face on. I swear that's just his normal face at this point. "Lin, have you had any missing persons reports?"

"We have tons. More than we know what to do with right now. Since the attacks we have had at least 50 missing person reports filled and more being reported by the minute. You think they've been captured?"

"It's possible." Tenzin is deep in thought.

"We need to be careful here. I've seen what the Horde can do first hand. I don't want any of you guys getting chipped and brainwashed so we need to be smart about this." I pause looking at Asami again. I would never forgive myself if she were to get chipped and I'd lose her. "That's why we are going today to get reinforcements. You guys stay here and come up with a plan. Adora, Catra, and I will be back in a few days with everyone else."

"Oh no you don't." Bolin starts. "We're coming with you. You can't split up team avatar again. Plus you'll need help flying the bison."

"He's right Korra. We're coming with you." Asami stands up at this point. The assertive tone to her voice sent a flash of warmth through my body and I get a vision of us run through my head.

I come back to reality and see everyone staring at me. Oh crap. How long was I daydreaming? "If you guys really want to come I won't stop you." Hopefully that was the right answer.

Some air temple monks come in the room and tell us the bison are ready to fly. We all stand up and head out. Catra grabs my arm before we could leave allowing everyone else to go first.

"So where'd you go back there?"

"I don't know what you mean." I chose to lie and try and play it off.

"Oh stop. I know you were daydreaming of Asami. I had the same look on my face plenty of times with Adora. You need to tell her."

I accept defeat at this point. "I know I do. I was going to last night and then the explosions happened and I never got the chance."

"Do it before it's too late. Trust me, you'll be a lot happier once you do."

I nod and we walk out. Everyone's already on the bison. Naga is at the side waiting for me. "I'm sorry girl. I wish I could take you with me. We'll be back real soon. Promise." Naga drops her head sad.

"Hey Naga, cheer up. Your friend will be coming back." Catra was petting Naga who then quickly became very happy and started licking Catra's face wildly at the mention of Melog.

Catra hesitates before climbing up on the bison. "Uh guys. You sure about this?"

Adora quickly climbs up on the saddle and looks over it down at her girlfriend. "Oh come on you scaredy cat."

At that Catra gets serious, "I'll show you a scaredy cat!!" And before I know it she's at the top grumbling to herself. The rest of us all busy out laughing at what we just witnessed. I airbend myself up to the top and grab the reigns looking back at Asami, Adora, and Catra. "You guys ready?" They all nod. I turn to see Bolin, Mako, and Opal on Opal's bison. "You ready?" They all nod and we soar off towards Brightmoon.

A/N sorry it took awhile for an update! Been on vacation with my dad and it's been a wild adventure. We accidentally ran into the Trump Rally and ended up people watching, ''twas very interesting. Don't worry we did not get harmed. Hope you guys are all staying safe out there with the rise in covid cases. Next chapter will be in Brightmoon with everyone meeting everyone. So excited!!
