Ch. 1 A Name

All six feet of him stood leaned against the marble arched-doorway, an apple in one hand a leather-bound book in the other. The juice of the apple rolls over his fingers in sticky drops that were quickly licked away to keep them from staining the delicate pages. His black hair shifted in front of his face as he watched the quiet commotion unfolding in the great halls of Haven just outside the ancient library. He shifted in the doorway seeming increasingly less interested in the words he read. With a sigh he snapped the book shut with one hand disposing of the apple core in a bin behind him, his attention squarely on two distinct figures walking through the hall, surrounded by an aura of darkness. The pair firmly held his attention as every god and angel stepped out of their way.

He watched them carefully. This was not the first time he had seen the man. The darkness that cloaked him was the darkness that enveloped all things before his father brought him into being and set him a blaze in the sky creating the suns that lit up the night and brought light to all that is. No this man if he could call him that was not new. He was very old, possibly older than his father, his details obscured by the bright white light of the room that made him look like a black obyse moving amongst them. The man was not who Lucifer was really watching, he had words with him in the past and could careless for his temperament and disregard for his nephews. No it was the girl next to the darkness that had peaked his interest. Both light and dark seemed to dance around her as she moved in long elegant strides that match the man's. Long brown curls cascaded from a high ponytail down the middle of her back, settling between her shoulder blades in perfect curls. Despite her poise she seemed uncomfortable in the blood red toga that fell from gold clips at her shoulder in what could only be described as entirely too much fabric. The gold sandals on her feet came to an elegant stop before Marcus and his egotistical mightier than though personality that screamed bow before me even though he had no clue what the thing was that stood before him. Lucifer smirked as the girl gracefully adjusted the knife that was tucked against her thigh with little if any notice from the seraphim. She casts her eyes down on the ground as I AM approaches, the light in the room seeming pale compared to him. Lucifer's eyes never leave her as he approaches hidden by tall marble pillars unnoticed by the two brothers who begin to argue about some random nonsense that doesn't seem to be important to anyone but them.

"Psst... You girl." Lucifer tries to catch her attention without interrupting the war of words between light and dark. She cast brown eyes on him making him gasp at their depths. They swirl with light and dark hughes that catch him off guard making him forget himself. He holds up the book pointing to the library behind him. A smile slowly creeps across her lips as she looks him up and down presumably trying to size up the threat that is attempting to lure her away from the darkness. "Do you read?" His composure fails him, the words reaching her ears in barely a whisper that seem more ignorant than innocent. Of course she can read he cringes at what he had just asked. She pivots on her heels reaching into the darkness to the man's shoulder.

"Master may I?" The words were sweet like honey, purely innocent as they pierced the veil of darkness and made it fade away. The darkness fell away revealing a man shrouded in a black cloak that covered every bit of him but the bottom of his bronzed chin.

'Master?' The word rattled around in Lucifer's head, trying to comprehend how one so young could have a master. What did she mean by master, and there went all possibility of being unnoticed. The man pushed off his hood revealing similar features to Lucifer's own that made him shudder. The darkness turned toward him casting a decidedly snarled glance before looking down at the girl the beamed with excitement to see the library. She smiled softly making the tension fade away from his forehead.

"It's ok brother." I Am took on human form standing before them all in a crisp white suit, his hand laid on the darkness's shoulder in reassuring fashion.
