Jungkook's POV

The sun was so bright today and I could still feel the ghost of a hug from a stupid girl who thought magical chocolate would make her better.

Yet that stupid girl made this stupid boy feel that I could still get another shot at love. It had been already 5 years since I last felt that hug and it's been 4 years since I graduated from highschool and last seen those two dorks.

Now I'm in college, just trying to write this research paper that I just can't seem to write. My mind is going in circles as I sat staring at my laptop on a sofa in the middle of a busy café.

I was put out of my deep train of thought when my phone buzzed out of nowhere.

Thinking it was some twist of fateI immediately grabbed my phone only for me to see it was some crummy notification about a pizza place deal.

As I turned off my phone, the coffee shop door opened and gave off that distinctive bell ring. Although I've heard that sound a thousand times, I find myself always looking at who might walk through that door. Consequently, I saw someone I didn't expect to see ever again.

It was her.

The girl who made me get that stupid magic chocolate.

It was IU.

It was her, the girl that left my heart broken that only Jiyeon could put back together but even she is gone and probably still with Jimin somewhere here in South Korea.

In fact I haven't heard from them since graduation.

When I locked eyes with IU, her eyes widened as if she saw me in a different light.

I found it weird but then I realized how much I've grown since highschool, I probably already look like myself when I ate that Eros chocolate.

She motioned to approach me but I raised a hand to stop her then said, "It's been nice seeing you IU."

I left the coffee shop with my laptop unable to discern how I really felt about the situation. Just when I thought I could get away with it, I felt a hand grab my wrist and to my disappointment, it was her.

"Jungkook, it's been a while," she said sweetly but I gave her a bitter smile then said, "Yeah it's been a good while, how's Singapore and your husband?"

"Good, we're just visiting my parents," she said, "Jungkook I-."

"Look, if you're gonna talk about what happened in the past, don't, I already gave myself time to heal from that," I said as I slowly removed her grip on my wrist then said, "It made me realize that I deserved someone who loved me from the start."

I didn't give her time to speak and just went on to the Han River where I usually go to collect my thoughts.

To my surprise, I found a familiar girl at my usual spot so I asked, "Im Jiyeon?"

She turned to look at me and seeing her face confirmed who she was. She smiled sweetly and said, "Well, well, well, if it isn't the popular high school track runner himself."

She then gestured for me to come stand beside her and so I did.

She still had the same short hair and messy bangs as before but she grew taller and had a change in style, now wearing a beautiful yellow sundress that contrasted her usual style of baggy sweaters and sweatpants.

She then said, "Long time no see, seems like you got something on your mind, girl problems?"

"I haven't seen you in 4 years and this is  how you open a conversation?," I teased and she replied, "The socially awkward side of me never left."

"To answer your question, I saw IU today and it sort of got me all bothered," I replied to which she answered, "Of course, don't worry about it too much, high school love isn't meant to last."

"What do you mean by that? Aren't you and Jimin still together?," I asked to which she answered, "We decided to break things off after we went our separate ways for college, he's studying abroad and I'm staying here so it was going to be hard."

"Did it end badly?," I asked to which she replied, "It depends on your values but in summary, we were still immature and needed to grow as people but that doesn't mean I don't care about him anymore."

"But if you care about him why would you let him go?," I asked and she simply smiled then said, "If there was one thing that whole Eros fiasco taught me, it taught me that love is never meant to be easy, there are always situations that challenge it and sometimes you love a person enough to let them go cause you know holding them down won't be good for them."

"But what if he ends up dating someone else?," I asked and Jiyeon simply answered, "What's meant to be is meant to be, all I know is that he gave me a lot of very happy memories that I will always treasure."

"You sound really different already Jiyeon," I pointed out, "What changed?"

"Just my outlook on love and life," she answered, "Graduating made me realize that some things just aren't meant to last and one of the things that didn't last were me and him but I still believe that if he's really for me, then somehow the threads of fate will just pull us back together again."

Moved by her words, I pulled her into a hug and she immediately reciprocated and hugged me back tightly. She then pulled away and saw that her eyes were glassy with tears. This made me say, "Did the hug remind you of him?"

To my surprise she just shook her head and said, "Nahh, I just missed you, it's just reassuring that I'm not the only one who remembers the Eros incident."

I smiled then said, "How about we grab some coffee and let's catch up?"

She smiled playfully then saidn "Of course, as long as I'm not the one paying."
