Its official. Tristin actually asked me out. It wasn't the way I pictured it but it happened. I couldn't stop smiling. I was now the girlfriend of the bad boy. My father was not going to like this at all. I danced around my room as I got ready for school. I had the cupcake all boxed up and sitting on my bag.
"Elaynnah, your ride is here," My father called up to me. Yay! I hurried down the stairs hiding the cupcake. I kissed my father on the cheek before rushing out the door. My heart flip flopped when I saw him. I was never going to get used to this.
"Hi," he smiled kissing me gently.
"Hi," I replied blushing. He was amazing. Everything just seemed so perfect when he was near. I found myself not fearing all those mean kids at school.
Heads turned in the hallway as we walked through the doors. Our hands entwined. I felt completely safe next to him. He walked me to the door of my English class kissing me tenderly.
"I'll see you later kay?" His voice said softly. Like smooth warm honey. I nodded before walking into the classroom.
"That guy is trouble," A blond girl in the front row said to me softly as I walked through the door.
"What?" I blushed. Who was she?
"I dated him in grade nine. He broke my heart," She frowned. Her red lips twitched as she looked at me with her big blue eyes.
"How?" I asked. Yeah I know Elaynnah why are you listening to her?
"He cheated on me with a cheerleader. My sisters best friend," She said in a low voice. "Don't let yourself fall for him. It's all fun and games until your heart gets involved."
I stood there looking at her. She was pretty. Manicured, perfect , beautiful. She was the type of girl Tristin should be with, but he chose me right? I looked down at myself. Jeans and a black t-shirt with a blue tight sweat shirt underneath it. I was plain, ordinary, a tom boy. The bell rang and all eyes turned to me still standing in the middle of the class room.
"Miss Taylor please take your seat," The teacher said sternly making a few girls in the room giggle. Damn.
I starred at the blond the entire class not hearing a single thing the teacher said. When the bell rang I mad my way to the locker. I felt numb. Was this too good to be true? I fumbled with my books as I placed them inside my locker. When I shut it I noticed the letter taped to the door. How did I miss this before? I opened the letter inside was a fancy looking key with gems covering it. it was attached to a chain. It was gorgeous and completely my style. I slipped it around my neck before reading the note left with it.
The key to happyness is being yourself.
From: Your Secret Santa.
I smiled at the note. This was just the advice I needed right now. So he broke a few hearts in the past. I was different from the rest of the girls. Tristin had said so himself. Things would be different with me. I grabbed my bag and rushed to Science. Luckily no one was there yet. I slipped the box on his desk and moved towards my desk just in the nic of time. A few of the honour students strolled inside. Talking about something I didn't quite understand. I blushed as I took my seat.
