Willow stumbled backward. She fell on her rump, staring up at the demon with fear. She had thought her plan would do her a little bit of good. Look how wrong she was.
Boscha took a step forward, and the plant witch used her feet to push herself back some. She now realized why the people in horror movies never got up and ran. The fear coursing through her was too much. Her knees were weak. She couldn't stand up no matter how much she wanted to.
She was shaking profusely. She tried to speak, but she couldn't force any words out.
Those dark eyes glared down at her. However, despite her fear, Willow examined her third eye closely. No matter how angry her two other eyes were, the third one held just pain. It was as if she wasn't angry at all, just misinterpreting her own emotions to anger.
Boscha got closer to Willow, fists still balled and engulfed in flames. She let out a low growl. "You used it against me! You attacked me, could have killed me, then you used that power against me?!"
Willow's eyes narrowed as she heard this. "Are you serious? You did that to everyone at school!"
The demon stopped for a moment, struck by realization. The flames on her hands went away. Her two eyes darted to the wall to her left while the third one remained fixated on Willow.
"You're not wrong..." She sighed, eyes turning back and horns cooling down. "I..." She seemed ready to cry, but she took in a deep breath and straightened up. Her third eye held pain, but that was easily masked by the two eyes that would easily burn holes into your soul. "I'll give you some space..." She turned on her heel, ready to leave the house.
Willow knew she should stop her, but her legs were still weak despite the fact the demon had cooled down. She forgot how scary the demon could be. However, Luz had rubbed off on her, and she seemed to challenge people a lot more when they verbally abused her.
She looked up, ready to tell Boscha not to go, but the demon had already left her alone. The plant lover panicked, knowing the halfling could die out there. She got to her feet and rushed outside.
She saw the demon levitating woods and cutting it with tools Willow didn't even know she had.
"Um, what are you doing?" Willow asked the demon.
Boscha looked over to her. Her ears angled down and she glared at her. "Go inside hal- er... fuck... go back inside... No need for you to catch a cold."
"No need for you to catch a cold either." She shifted nervously on her feet. "Come back inside... I can grow some vegetables to cook up, so we can eat."
The demon growled. "Look, Petals! I'm trying to fix the fucking window you broke! So, go back inside and leave me alone, will ya?!" She drew a circle, making the vines Willow grew wither away. They turned to ash and with her magic she began to board up the window.
"Stop cussing so much. Use quieter voices, I'm right here, you don't have to yell. Also, my name is Willow, use it." She huffed as she turned and went back inside.
"Neh neh neh. Yada yada. Bicker Bicker. Oooo, I'm the fucking plant bitch and I'll throw you out a window if you make me sad or bad bleh." She mocked silently.
She laughed to herself. She finished boarding the window then turned and walked into the woods, summoning a bow to her hand. She had a quiver with 10 arrows on her back now. Something she learned to do at a young age was the ability to transport certain items from a storage compartment she had at home.
Boscha spotted a Darkwood deer. The sleek black fur reflected the evening sun gorgeously. If she hadn't been in need of meat, she would've taken a few pictures of the creature, not kill it. However, she was hungry, and she wasn't going vegetarian anytime soon.
She held her bow out and grabbed an arrow from her quiver. She placed the arrow on the string and pulled back, aiming at the deer. She drew in a deep breath. She released the string, the arrow propelling forward. The projectile went straight through the deer's heart, killing it instantly.
She smirked as she ran to her kill. It had been a while since she had gone hunting. She ran up to the motionless corpse of the deer. She hoisted the deer up onto her shoulders and carried it back to the house.
She went into a small room accessible from the outside. She hung the deer up and began to get to work on preparing the deer.
Meanwhile, Willow was inside cooking some of the vegetables she had grown. She made sure to make enough for both herself and the demon.
She sighed. She didn't know why, but she felt guilty. The two of them needed to develop a better relationship if they ever wanted to leave. However, it seemed impossible now since she had upsetted the demon so much already. She was sure that Boscha wanted to gut her by now, but something was stopping her.
Willow didn't know what made the halfling so cruel, nor did she know what stopped the girl from ripping her throat out. Why did it seem to hurt her when Willow had said the only thing she was good at was yelling? It seemed to have struck a wound that was still fresh.
She finished cooking the vegetables. She was about to go outside to get Boscha when the door opened. The demon walked in, covered in blood.
"I forgot how messy preparing a deer can be." She laughed.
"Did you go hunt?"
"No, I got a deer off the side of the road." She growled.
Willow flinched at how quickly the demon demeanor changed. One second she seems almost happy, the next she's ready to rip out your throat.
"Sorry, dumb question..." She sighs. "Look, I'm sorry about using the slight fear you had of me against you. I just wanted to set up some rules and took advantage of my position for a bit..."
"Rule one, we call each other by our respective names." Willow looked almost shocked. "Rule two, keep the cussing to a minimum. Rule three, no shouting... We have to talk things out. And lastly rule four, we have to pull our own weight. Those were the rules you set, right, Willow?"
"Um, r-right, yeah!"
"Cool."
Willow decided it would be best not to question her accepting the rules, but she did bring something up about the clothes.
"We don't have any extra clothes here, so I'm not sure what to do ab-" She was cut off by Boscha drawing a circle. A set of clean clothes came out of nowhere. "You were saying?" The demon smirked, and Willow remained in a shocked silence.
She walked off to a room that had a "bathtub" really it was like a bathtub but you had to bring the water in there yourself. Using fire and ice magic she made herself a bath to clean off all the blood she had gotten on herself.
She got dressed in clothes that weren't really suitable for the environment they were in, but she was going to be by a fire so she didn't care. She walked into the living room and saw Willow eating vegetables she had cooked.
Boscha decided to wait and eat when she finished cooking some deer. She went out to where she left the deer meat. She had stored the meat in a makeshift freezer. Really it was just a giant cube of ice, the deer placed inside for safe storage.
She made a fire then went to get some of the deer. She cooked in a peaceful silence. Once she finished, she brought the meat inside.
Willow looked at the meat. The girl definitely loved the smell as some drool escaped her mouth.
"You gonna take some?" Boscha asked and the plant lover looked up.
"Can I?"
Boscha glared at her and growled. "Can you please stop asking stupid questions! I didn't go out just to hunt for myself... Rule four remember?! I agreed to hunt." Her voice had eventually heightened to a yell.
"Rule three, no shouting." Willow shot back with a playful glare.
The demon almost got mad, but she soon faded into confusion as she examined the glare. Not wasn't hostile which caught her off guard. She sighed.
"Right, whatever, just get some meat and let's fu- freaking eat." She said, ears angling downward.
Willow giggled at the near mess up on another rule. She smiled and got some of the deer and went and sat down. She began to eat.
Boscha prepared herself a plate and ate as well.
