Second year : choices

"How did you do it" Luke groaned from a library corner, hidden away as Ashton giggled. A chocolate egg sat between them along side three sets of homework. Something Luke almost found enduring that the older boy would giggle, like a proper girly giggle that made Luke feel like his heart was a flutter. "It was easy, just pick the two you feel like you'll be good at. So many do care of magical creatures cos it's easy whereas arithmancy would bore the socks off anyone except Ravenclaws. "Hey that's insulting" Brooke gasped, looking up from her own worksheet. "You know it's true, like only three Gryffindor took it in my year and I doubt anyone from Slytherin took it" Ashton protested in his defence. "Then perhaps someone should prove them wrong" Brooke pointed out. "Well it won't be me. Mum already teaches it as a tutor and I Don't need to spend the holidays doing extra curriculars" Luke informed them both, "and Ben did it so if you want to do it I'll steal his old notes".

"I'm going to pass" Brooke said. "Muggle studies are a breeze thought and it looks good if you want to work in the ministry" Ashton recommended. "Yeah mr muggle for you they probably are" had that come out of any other Slytherin mouth it would have been seen as an insult, out of Luke it just made the two of them giggle. "Ergh neither of you are helping" Luke groaned, putting his quill back down. Breaking off some chocolate to drown his sorrows.

"How is it you have two older brothers who have taken their eletives and you can't choose" Brooke exclaimed. "Because other than arithmancy everything else interest me and what if I dislike what I'm taking I'm stuck for the next three years studying it" Luke huffed, feeling like his friends weren't understanding his frustration. "I'd imagine that Mcgonagal would allow you to change if a week in your really aren't feeling it" Ashton pointed out. "No ones ever done that so I doubt it" Brooke said. Luke missed the swift kick that Ashton sent her. "But I'm sure there are exceptions" she added hand moving to rub her ankle, glaring in Ashtons direction. "Well at least don't do divination, so many fail it and not one single person who has opted to take it is enjoying it or understanding it. Unless you are related to a seer in which case take it because you'll have a breeze" Ashton phr.

Luke nodded his head. Jack took divination and he pretty much slept in class. "See that leaves just care of magical creatures, muggle studies and study of ancient runes" Brooke crosses off the two that Luke had on his list. "I mean why are you even worrying about it, like you've got Easter break to figure it out" Ashton asked curiously. "Because I then don't have to think about it over Easter break, no school thoughts at all" Luke dhf. "But it's not really a school thought it just a future thought" Ashton protests. Luke mere dropped some Ink on his paper in retort. Childish but it did make him feel better. "And too think I brought my chocolate egg to share with you"

"What's it even for" Luke queried. "It's part of the muggles Easter celebrations. They give them to each other, although it's mainly for the younger generation.There this is idea of the Easter bunny who leaves eggs for children" Ashton explained. "We are the younger generation though and eggs come from birds so how is it an Easter bunny" Luke boggles, a similar look on Brookes face. "Beats me I was just glad for the chocolate" Ashton shrugged. "Okay that's sorted that. Care of magic creatures and ancient runes it is" Luke claimed. "Thank merlins beard"

"Hey guys" Calum's voice greets them, as they start making space for him. He sits down in between Luke and Brooke. "Oo Easter egg". "Help yourself" Ashton guestures and Calum does. "Man Easter chocolate is good" Calum begins, "oh your discussing your electives. I was just starting to think about them". "Here we go again" Ashton rolled his eyes looking at Brooke as the other two broke into conversation.
