4. The Amazing Spider-Man
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Just like Michael had promised before he left Chloe's house, he made sure to give me a call. After I got home, I had been sitting on my bed, reading a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man, waiting for Michael's call. I wasn't sure if he was actually telling me he would call me, or if that was just a habit of his, saying "I'll call you."
But it had proved to be a promise when I heard my phone ringing. I set down the comic book and grabbed my phone, a picture of Michael and his messy platinum hair showed on my screen.
"Hi." I answered tentatively, "You actually called."
Michael chuckled and I could imagine him shaking his head slightly, "I promised I would, Beatrice."
It was weird not hearing him call me 'Bea'. Usually he never called me by my full name. Michael sensed my quietness and awkwardness and asked, "Are you okay, you're really quiet? Was it because I called you by your full name? It felt weird just saying it."
I shook my head, forgetting again that he couldn't see me and said, "No, it's fine."
Michael took it upon himself to change the subject. "I think I'm going to dye my hair."
I couldn't imagine him with any other hair color then what he currently had. "Really, what color?" I asked, wanting some sort of idea of how he would look.
"I dunno, I've got blue, red, and pink. So I guess one of those." I could imagine him sitting there, looking at his dye options.
"I can't imagine you with pink hair." I muttered. A few seconds later, my phone beeped with a message. It was from Michael and a picture was attached. A picture of him with pink hair. I giggled at the sight.
"Did you get it?" Michael asked.
"Yes, it's adorable."
"You think I'm adorable, Bea?"
"You're beautiful, Michael." My eyes widened when I realized what I said. I would have preferred to keep that to myself. I definitely wasn't supposed to come out.
"You're beautiful-ler, Bea."
My heart felt as if it flipped in my chest as it's beating increased, and a blush spread across my cheeks.
"That's not even a word." I mumbled, a bit uncomfortable.
"You keep ruining the moment." Michael joked. "Do I make you uncomfortable, Bea?"
"Yes." I breathed.
"Why?"
"Who's better, Spider-Man or Batman?" I asked, wanting to change the subject.
"Definitely Spider-Man, no doubt. Please tell me you're not a Batman supporter." Michael pleaded, but I just sat in uncomfortable silence. "Beatrice, no." Michael whined.
"I just like him better."
"But why? Batman doesn't even have any powers? Spider-Man would beat him in a heartbeat." Michael argued.
"Well Batman is an amazing strategist, if he had time to train, he could definitely beat Spider-Man."
"Yeah, but why would there be like a scheduled fight between them?" Michael challenged.
"I dunno, but it could happen Michael. And in that case, Batman would win."
"If Batman knew of their planned fight, then so would Spider-Man, therefore he could prepare himself too. In which case, his preparation and his spider senses would help him win."
