2. Watchmen

I closed the front door of my house behind me with a smile on my face, and closed my eyes, leaning on the door and letting out a sigh of content. Today was a truly great day, even though most of it consisted of me following Chloe around. But, I made a new friend, and for me that was valuable. Not many people liked to tolerate me.

"What's got you so happy?"

My eyes immediately snapped open at the sound on my brothers deep voice. And he laughed, knowing that he scared me.

I stepped away from the door and said, "It's nothing, Ford. I guess I just had a good day."

"It's a boy isn't? You're usually annoyed after coming home from spending the day at the mall with Chloe." Ford interrogated with a knowing smirk on his face, "What's his name?"

"Michael, and I barely know him. Honestly, it's nothing." I dismissed, my cheeks turning red in embarrassment.

"You're blushing." Ford taunted.

"Leave me alone." I groaned and started to walk away, but stopped when Ford yelled,

"Mom, Beatrice has a crush!"

I slapped him multiple times on the arm to get him to stop, "Quit it! Ugh, you're so immature."

I heard my mom's quick footsteps coming towards us, obviously wanting to get an inside scoop.

"What's this about a crush?" She smirked, pushing a lock of her curly blonde hair behind her ear.

"It's nothing, I just met him today. I don't even feel that way about him." I denied, not wanting my mother to get into my business.

"So, it's a boy."

"What? Excuse me?" I asked, confused at her comment.

"Beatrice, I was beginning to think you were a lesbian. I've never seen you talk to boys." My mother explained.

"Mom!" I yelled, my eyes widening in embarrassment, "I'm not a lesbian!"

I can't believe she thought that. Everything knows the woman has an eavesdropping problem, she should know by now judging by me and Chloe’s conversations. Chloe always makes sure to bring up her current crush of the week and wait for my opinion, but never my approval.

"Okay, okay. But I'd totally be fine if you were."

I groaned and rolled my eyes. All I wanted was to escape this horribly uncomfortable conversation.

"What's his name then?"

"Michael. And I don't have a crush on him. Can you two please leave me alone?" I begged and began walking up the stair to go to my room.

"Is he cute?" My mom yelled up after me.

"I'm not talking about this with you." I yelled in response.

"Well, I look forward to meeting him."

I rolled my eyes, and once I reached my bedroom I slammed the door shut, hoping to block my mom and brother out for at least a few hours.

I understand that I don't usually talk to guys, unless it’s about school or comics, but there is no reason for them to get so excited. Not all seventeen year old girls are boy crazy. I just have different interests then many teenage girls.

I pushed my copy of Watchmen off my bed, and climbed on, pulling out my brand new copy of Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour. I could hardly contain my excitement as I began to read until I fell asleep.
