Bucky escorted you to the garage, but to your surprise, he walked past every single car and stopped at a motorcycle.
"Here's our ride." He said holding his arms out doing jazz hands. You giggle at this as he put the keys into the ignition and hopped on.
You sat behind him and hesitated to put your arms around him.
"You know, you're gonna have to hold onto me, unless you want to fly off."
"Oh, right." You replied, shaking your head. You moved your arms to wrap around his torso and you were off.
The ride there was filled with laughter from the both of you, and another strange feeling of de ja vu. You figured this was probably from you doing something similar during your time as "Mercy".
The bike began to slow down and you stopped in front of a cute little shopping strip.
The two of you loaded off of the bike and Bucky put his human arm out for you to grab. You took it, but couldn't shake this feeling of butterflies in your stomach, it was strangely similar to that adrenaline rush you would get before performing.
You walked down the strip for a few minutes in silence when Bucky stopped and turned to a small coffee shop. "This place has the best bagels!" He beamed with the enthusiasm of a child on Christmas.
He walked you to a table and motioned for you to sit as he went up to the counter to order.
You looked around, analyzing every detail of the resturant. A toddler begging their mother for a donut, a little elderly couple eating in the corner, a group of college-aged kids doing homework, and the other various civilians going about their seemingly busy days. One person that caught your eye, however, was a man sitting a few booths away from you. He had a hat and slightley tinted glasses on, and sat at a table alone with an untouched croissant in front of him. He also had a pin on the collar of his shirt, an octopus? You tried to figure out why you felt that you knew that logo, but were distracted by the fact that he was moving his lips ever so slightly- probably speaking into a com, and every so often, looking to the corner of the cafe, where a camera was planted.
You were shaken from your suspicions when Bucky sat down and placed a cup and a plate with a bagel in front of you.
"Sorry that took so long, this place is packed today." He said as he took the wrapper off of his straw.
"Yeah, is it always this busy?" You asked, not breaking focus from the man with the pin.
"You know, you can drop the assassin instincts. No one knows who you are." He said, ignoring your question. He already had managed to scarf down at least half of his bagel.
"I know, but people don't come to cafes to order food that they don't eat, all while staring at a camera." You said in a low voice.
Bucky seemed to understand, he pretended to crack his back to get a better look at this guy. He turned back around with a clenched jaw and fists.
"Keep calm, grab the food and act like were a couple, we need to leave." He mumbled.
You immediately began laughing and standing up. "We should probably get home, hun. We need to feed the cat." You said in a high pitched voice, grabbing Bucky's arm.
The two of you walked out, trying to watch your backs as closely as possible, and hopped back onto the bike.
You rode back home, only this time, in silence...a nervous one. Once getting to the tower, Bucky rushed straight to Tony's lab, dragging you by the arm behind him.
"Tony, Hydra knows we got her." He called, busting into the room.
The millionaire jumped at the sudden entrance and walked over to the two of you.
"Hydra should be dead. Are you sure you're not having memory issues, Barnes?" Tony asked, in his trademark sarcasm.
"Yeah, but the red room was supposedly dead too, what do we do?" Bucky said, putting air quotes around the word "dead". He was practically sweating at this point.
"Well, first, you're going to calm down. You're going to give yourself a heart attack. Then, we're going to look for maybe another tracker that they may have put in y/n. And I guess contact Fury and let him know what's up." Tony said in the calmest voice possible.
You and Bucky nodded your heads and watched Tony set up the machine that you were put in when you got here. You flinched when you saw him pull out a needle and place it on the table next to the machine. Bucky noticed and turned to you.
"Hey, it's okay. He's just looking for a tracker, that's it."
"No, no, no. I'm fine. Just thought I was going to sneeze." You lied as you continued to watch him set up the machinery.
"Hey Mr. Stark, sorry I'm late I-" In walked the teenager from your first day here, stopped dead in his tracks. "Sorry I didn't know something was going on...I can uh, wait outside." He said, turning on his heels back towards the door.
Tony looked up and his face softened, you noticed how he had a soft spot for this kid.
"Actually, Pete, you can help. Go check what the angular frequency is at." he said, going back to set up the MRI machine.
The boy, who was apparently named Peter's face lit up in excitement. Bucky looked at you as if the two scientists were speaking another language. You shrugged at him and refocused on the machine.
After a few nerve racking minutes of watching the two prepare, you realized that you were shaking...great.
Bucky noticed this too and he grabbed your hand and began tracing small circles with his thumb.
"Alright, all set. Try not to freak out this time" Tony said with a smirk.
You looked down at your feet and walked over to the table, as you laid down, you felt a needle go in, and suddenly everything became blurry and dark...
