🌌Chapter 5: Summer

Despite your initial argument, the two of you had gotten into the actual routine of visiting that very small café every other Saturday.

It had been almost half a year since you both met, and you grew fond of his silly but wholesome personality.

And though you hated to admit it, you looked forward to it more and more. The absence of Chou growing less and less apparent as he made up for it.

The said cat walked over to you on the table, licking your hair, "No I haven't replaced you.."

You played with your pencil whilst flicking through the many pages on historical illusions. It was all fun, but it was coming to your realisation the fact that you'd both be very busy soon.

With his last year around the corner and your exams after the summer break.

'Time is flying by..' You rested your head on the table, legs swinging, '..And it's so hot in here..!'

Chou hopped off the table and ran to the open door of the library. You watched him and sure enough, Gojou was stood in the doorway. His blazer was open and his shirt unbuttoned at the top.

The light summer wind was gently blowing his snow white hair and he stuck his tongue out, catching you looking at him. This made you turn away and huff.

"Hey Chou, " He greeted the cat, and walking your way he waved, "Yo."

You pouted, leaning back in your seat, "Hey."

The summer heat was no joke.. You had also opened your blazer, and wore knee high socks with your skirt and some black leather shoes.

He sat on the desk and looked at your notes, "Studying hard as always I see."

"Only so I have less to do during the holiday, " You started packing away the notepads into your bag, "I'm going back to France to spend it with my Mother."

"Oh."

You stood up taking the books back to their shelf, "What do you mean 'oh'?"

"..Well, my team and I actually wanted to go camping at Mt Taoko, " He followed right behind you.

"And...?" You tiptoe to try and put one last book away, "Why are you-"

He leant behind you, taking the book from your hands, "Because, I also want you to go with us."

'This guy..!'

You tried to ignore the slight feeling of his chest on your back, "M-My Mother was actually.. Going to book the ticket today."

Easily reaching over your head, he placed it down, "Can't you stay?"

You felt slightly annoyed when he walked away, "..I-I'll call her tonight then, and let you know what she says."

"Yay~ We're gonna have so much fun~!" He handed you your bag, acting his usual ditzy self.

"Thank you, " You both left the library, Chou bounding ahead, "I was gonna grab a smoothie-"

"Ugh look at her.."

"They're always together, it's
so improper I swear..."

"She's a transfer student right?
I wish she would just go back.."

"Did she just come here to
seduce seniors..?"

The last statement made you stop walking, "Seriously..?"

Did they really just treat your life long dream like that..?

"They're chatting bullshit aren't they?" He looked down at you, "Those other first years.."

You never met his eyes, head facing down, "..."

"(L/n)?" Gojou was surprised when you grabbed his sleeve, pulling him away.

After a few long strides, you finally made it to the courtyard garden, and sat on a bench. You let go of his sleeve and let out a heavy sigh.

"I.. I really don't want these rumours to trouble you, I know you have a reputation as a prodigy, " Chou sat between you both, "I can handle this, but you also getting dragged down with me--"

"-Hm? So what if there are rumours (L/n), " He turned his head towards you, "We both know the real truth between us."

Your heart raced as you looked up at him, his slight gaze causing many emotions to stir within you.

"What do you mean..?"

"Well, " He pushed up his shades, "For a start I don't think it's really a subtle fact that you've taken a liking to me."

"Gojou!?!" You yelled, brow twitching, "A-As if! How full of yourself are you..!"

You couldn't believe it, 'He's always so straightforward.. Does he have no filter?!'

He watched as you stubbornly crossed your arms, mouth turned down in a nervous frown.

"..Is that not how it works?" He tilted his head to the side, genuinely confused, "..You girls.."

You turned your eyes his way, "I have all the good reasons to think you also like me.. Don't make it one-sided.. You asked me out after all..!"

He chuckled at your prideful argument, "Yeah that would be true.. But unlike you, (L/n).. I don't deny my feelings."

"...!"

"You can sit there and feel embarrassed, I don't get why you're always so defensive.." He shrugged whilst you struggled to think straight.

Chou sat in his lap, and he scratched the cat's chin, "Now, you were talking about grabbing some smoothies!"

"Uh.." You sighed, playing with your pendant, "I-I was, wasn't I.."

Half a year in Japan felt like a lifetime with his help, and he never made you feel abnormal or different.

However, in that moment, your feelings had finally been caught red handed.

Who were you kidding, there was no way he hadn't noticed by now.

He knew from the beginning.
