🌌Chapter 7: Mt Takao

Your pov

"Are you excited (L/n)?"

You rolled your eyes, swatting his face away, whilst Ieiri snoozed in the front seat. Getou was driving his car, and Gojou sat in the back seats with you.

Although you seemed annoyed at the time, you honestly couldn't wait to get out and away from the busy High School life.

And it seemed Chou was chilling too, the cat resting between you both as per usual.

"So (L/n), how are you finding your first year?" The dark haired male asked you, "I hope it's been good."

This caught you off guard, Getou's mysterious appearance slightly intimidating to you. It always was, and you prayed it wasn't obvious; you didn't want to be rude. But he just had an air about him..

"I-It has, especially since I started hanging out with Gojou actually, " You avoided his smug face, "You guys seem nice too.."

"Ah, well we can take the load off for the week, " Ieiri stretched her legs on the dashboard, "Who knows, maybe you guys might hit it off.."

Your hair stood on end, "Ieiri!" You whined, sinking into your seat.

"Am I wrong?" She yawned, falling back asleep, "Awaken me once we've arrived.."

Even Getou chuckled, with you now looking outside the window, in embarrassment. Gojou just stared your way through his shades, an amused smile on his lips.

/////// Half an hour later...

You all arrived at the base forest of Mount Takao, with Getou parking near the camping site entrance.

"Alright, everyone ready to trek?" Gojou nudged Getou whilst Ieiri fixed her bag.

"I'm set." The raven-head took off on the path, everyone following her.

You pulled the jumper tied around your waist, "Wait up!"

Picking up your tent bag, you ran after the group into the wilderness.

Looking around, the scenery was simply unreal;

Fresh air flowed into your lungs, the scent of earthy dirt calming yet distinct.

The sun's light was shining through the many leaves up above, creating a vibrant green cast across everything below.

It was such a huge contrast to the busy industrial streets of Tokyo, and you loved it.

Gojou noticed how captivated you were and dropped back, letting Getou and Ieiri lead. They were in a busy conversation about the case of a dead body, and the growing curse it left nearby.

Nothing Gojou really wanted to join in on, but something he knew you'd probably freak out about soon..

Yeah, you'd scream.

In fact, this whole 'camping trip' was an assignment that Yaga-sensei had given the team. Gojou brought you along mostly in jest.

But he'd be lying if he didn't say part of him also felt genuinely glad you were joining them too. It was nice getting away with you as company other than Getou and Ieiri.

He watched as you slowly realised he was slowing down to you. Your (e/c) eyes hesitantly fixing on his over the shades.

It made him inwardly smirk that you were slowly but surely lowering your defensive guard.

"It's really relaxing, isn't it, " He put his hands in his pockets as you nodded, "I figured this would be nice right before our exams.."

Something about his tone made you slightly suspicious.. Had you've known why he was so sly with his words, you would've slapped him silly--

But, let's just say you were in an ignorant bliss.

"Well, your idea was good," You laughed, kicking a rock on the ground, "I think my Mother was kind of right about me needing to get out more.."

Chou ran off somewhere in the bushes, and Gojou raised his eyebrows, "He's in a good mood.."

You curved your lips in a smile and looked up at him, catching the young man off guard, "He is, isn't he.."

It's not the fact that you smiled, it's the way you did. It was so delicate and precious. He had to internally check himself as his cheeks tingled a little.

But Ieiri's distant voice shook him out of his state before anything visible showed up.

"Hey! Guys there's a slight lake ahead, careful! " She shouted, disappearing beyond the path.

"Got it!" Gojou shouted speeding up, "Come on."

You practically started running, his long legs propelling him ridiculously fast compared to you. Soon enough, you reached the lake, a few stepping stones dotted awkwardly across the stream.

"We have to cross that..?" You watched Chou skillfully hop over the rocks to the other side, "Show off.."

"Let's get going then, " Gojou pulled his bag straps, before easily stepping over the first rock.

He turned around to see you stood still, "(L/n)? You're not scared are you~?"

His evil smirk enraged you, and you scoffed stepping forward, "Me?? Afraid!?"

In two seconds, your shoe slid on the slippery moss, and you were sent falling backwards.

'Ah, goodbye cruel world.'

A hand firmly gripped yours, hauling you upwards, your tent bag getting caught on a sharp stray log in the water.

"Your bag is caught, you have to remove it." You barely realised what was going on, looking behind you.

Even on the brink of death, your cheap soul begged to differ, "But this tent was so expensive--"

"(L/n), take off the bag!" He shouted, his sudden sharp tone making you flinch.

Doing as told, you let go of the strap and he held you close for a moment.

"Follow my steps, " He instructed, before guiding you across the stones.

"..You didn't have to shout at me, " You trudged behind him, sulking like a child.

"Then you should've listened to me the first time." He faced forward, walking ahead.

"..That tent costed more than my-"

"We can share, quit whining."

Your eyes shot up to the back of his head, speechless at the thought, "W-What?"

"Ieiri brought a single tent, and I highly doubt you'll want to share with Getou, " He looked down at you with an unreadable expression, "Right?"

His stern look only worsened the longer you took to respond, but you really were at a loss for words.

"I.. Well.. okay then, " You tried to hide your blush, staring at his large hand still holding yours firmly, "Gojou.."

"Hm? Oh-- sorry," He was about to let go, but you grabbed it again, "(L/n)..?"

He turned his head down at your face, taking in the way you looked to the side, still stubborn as ever, "..Thank you.. For that."
