Dean sat in the library of the bunker while Sammy when out for some lunch. Dean sat there drinking his beer slowly and was being lost in thought.
Dean was lost in thought about when he first meet Cain on his bee farm. What he remembers is a blurr really. What he really remembers is recieving the Mark. The stinging, hot pain that traveled up his hand and onto his arm where the Mark has been ever since. Dean could hear Cain's voice in his mind.

Cain- "With the Mark comes a great burren, some would call it a great cost."
"Good luck Dean, your going to need it."
"Good luck Dean, good luck Dean...you are going to need it...need it."

Sam- "Dean? Dean!?"

Cain- "Good luck"

Sam- "Dean!"

Dean snapped out of it and looked up at Sammy. He was shocked at Sam's tight grip on his shoulder and shaking him. Dean could see Sam had both panic and worry in his eyes. Dean reached up and slapped Sam's hand off of him.

Dean- "I'm fine!"

Sam backed up but stood fairly close to his big brother. Dean looked quickly up at his brother than back at the stacks of books on the table, slamming a book close and standing up and drinking his beer in one sip. He walked away from Sam and was heading out of the room when a bang on the table stopped his in his path. He turned around to see Sam slamming the bag of food on the table, he could see Sam was upset. Dean raised his eye brows and watched Sam exhail loudly.

Sam- "Dude?! Are we going to talk about what is up with you or not, cause you have been off lately, distant and..."

Dean- "And it's under control Sam! I'm fine!"

Sam- "Your not fine Dean! And I'm here for you if you need to talk, Dean I..."

Dean- "Enough Sam, enough!"

Dean turned from Sam and walked towards the direction of his bedroom. Sam watched him leave, he wanted to help Dean but he didn't want to press his brother and angry him even more than he appread to be already. Sam was consured about Dean. He has been very distant even since Metatron was in the dungeon and Dean had lost some control and attacked him. Sam's fear that the Mark might be taking control over Dean slowly by each passing day an hour seemed it might be coming true.

Sam ran his hands through his hair and shocked his head. Dean was clearly upset and him and maybe even he was upset with himself but Sam just wanted to help his big brother. Sam wanted to save Dean's ass from the fire. Countless times before Dean has saved him and Dean would do it all again in a heartbeat cause he loved him soo much. Sam felt horrible, he felt like he was letting his brother down and it was all his fault. "Everything that has ever happen to Dean and his whole family was his fault. Everything would have been totally different if..."

Sam's mind stopped quickly at that thought, not finishing it. His phone began to ring in his jacket pocket. He reached for it and saw that it was Cas's number.

Sam- "Hey Cas"

Cas- "Sam, I .... what's wrong? Is it Dean?"

Sam exhailed and closed his eyes for a moment.

Cas- "Sam?"

Sam- "Yeah."

Cas- "You sound distressed. Has something happened? Are you and Dean alright? Should I..."

Sam- "No Cas stay where you are looking for Cain, I'm fine. Dean he's...."

Cas- "Has something happened with him?"

Sam- "What you mean more than regular? He just...Cas he's different lately more than before. I don't know if it's because the Mark has been on him for awhile or it is something else, but he seems more on edge and is distant. He is constanly looking off and is in deep in thought and I'm just worried that we...we might be losing him. Losing this fight and losing my brother to that Damn Mark!"

Cas- "Sam, Dean is strong and we will find a way to remove the Mark of Cain from him, but..."

Sam- "But?"

Cas- "It may take some time. The location that Dean gave us, the one where he and Crowley first meet Cain."

Sam- "Yeah. What is it?"

Cas- "It is empty. No sign of Cain at all."

Sam- "Damnit!"
Sam threw his fist against the table. He felt like he was reaching the end of his line.

Cas- "Sam, I'm sorry."

Sam- "No Cas it isn't your fault. We just gotta keep searching and hoping to find answers somewhere. All of these books that the Men of Letters have and not one has a single answer in them! Maybe there isn't one and Metatron was just lying to us."

Cas- "Sam I'm going to keep looking. I don't believe Metatron was lying, Dean did a number upon him and I don't think someone could resist the pain of that torture in which Dean casued. Sam?"

Sam- "Yeah Cas?"

Cas- "You have to keep hope and hope that it will work out. We three have all been through much and you and I can understand the struggles of losing oneself to something that we did to ourseleves. Like me when I took in all those sould from Purgatory and I had all those bad things inside me, the Leviathans within me and I did that on my own. It was my choice and I didn't listen to either of you. Sam you can relate with the demon blood. Losing yourself to that darkness is powerful and overwhelming and a times scary but at others it fells right. So Sam, we must keep looking, we have to save Dean, for he has saved us many of times before."

Sam- "Thanks Cas, and your right. We gotta keep looking for answers, they gotta be out there somewhere."

Cas- "The was a wonderful chat Sam,well not as wonderful as the ones I share with your brother, oh how I enjoy those chats but you and I are very much alike, both have screwed up many of times and both have let Dean down. I;m going to hang up down."

Sam- "Okay Cas, talk to..."

Dean laid in his bed and tried to cool off. He hated when he got angry and went off on Sammy. He knew Sammy was just looking out for him and was trying to be there and support him but he was off, like Sam had said and he hadn't an idea why he seemed more off than on a regular basic, but he was. He laid back hearing once again Cain's voice in his head. There were soo many warnings and at the time he couldn't care, he didn't fully listen to Cain all he listen to and cared about was finding a way to kill Abbadon and he found it and did kill her. But after that event, everything changed.

Cain- "Make me a promise first, when I call you, and I will call. Come find me and use the blade on me."

Dean looked down at his arm. The Mark of Cain was still there and it may never be coming off. Dean rubbed it and closed his eyes. The flashes of the kills he had done with this Mark and the blade flashed over his eyes and he sucked in the feel that it gave him, that rush, that high he found himself craving.
