Abigail
"Abby, wake up!" Avery yelled from the kitchen.
"I am." I said as I calmly walked in. I kissed little Angel's head as she ate her cereal. I then walked to Avery and hugged her.
"Good morning." She said as she hugged me back.
"Morning Avery."
I sat down next to Angel and waited as Avery filled my plate. She was like a mom most times. I guess her being older by ten years would do that. She put a plate of pancakes and eggs in front of me then made herself one.
"I have to head into the office today. Only for a few hours." Avery informed me, eating some of her eggs.
She was twenty seven. A lawyer, and apparently a really good one at that. Avery had always been smart, and her high IQ guaranteed her high passes on her bar exams.
"That's okay. Angel and I can just hang out here while we wait for you." I shrugged as I cut into my pancakes. They were so good.
She looked up with a frown on her face, "Are you sure? I know I promised you an early birthday celebration."
I shook my head. "Of course it is. Right my Angel?" I asked the toddler.
"Uh huh mommy. It okay. Pway wiff mommy." She said with her mouth full.
Avery laughed as she wiped spilled milk from her daughter's face. "It's gonna get really confusing with her calling both of us mommy."
"I don't mind. It's an honor." I directed a smile to the small child. "Angel, say aunty."
"Mommy." She giggled.
I laughed and attempted again. "Aunty." I sounded the word out more carefully.
She blinked at me before a grin broke out on her face. "Siwwy, mommy."
After breakfast Avery gathered her things to leave. Angel wobbled her way to the door with me behind her. I picked her up as she kept her eyes on her mom.
"Alright my girls, I'll only be gone a couple of hours." Avery said as she kissed me on my temple, then kissed Angel on her forehead. "I love you both. So much."
"I love you too, Ave. Say 'bye mommy'." I held Angel's hand up. The little girl giggled as she waved.
After Avery left, I put Angel in her playpen. There were boxes everywhere. We'd just moved to this apartment a couple weeks ago. Three bedrooms. It was a fairly big place. It was closer to my high school and Angel's daycare. Which is why Avery chose this building.
I started unpacking the living room stuff while simultaneously keeping an eye on Angel. It was the last place left to unpacked. Our rooms were already organized.
Angel fell asleep after a while. It was now 1pm. Avery left at ten. I didn't want to call and disturb her at work so I sent a text. A few minutes later my phone rang.
"Hey Abs. I'm leaving now. I'll be there in about twenty minutes." I heard the slamming of the door through the phone.
"Sure, we'll get dressed then. I love you. Drive safe."
"I love you too and I will. Bye."
Angel and I got dressed and waited. An hour passed and Avery hadn't arrived yet. I called her phone and there was no answer. I started to panic, thinking the worst. Ten minutes later, my phone rang. Avery.
