The next few hours passed quickly and it was soon time for bed.
When Hinata and Kageyama got to bed, it was silent and kind of awkward.
Why hasn't kageyama done anything weird tonight just like all of the other nights?, hinata thought as he stared at the ceiling in the dark.
While the shorter teen was thinking that, Kageyama was thinking about what Sugawara said about being straightforward.
I can just tell him the truth and call this whole 'finding out' thing off. It's best if I do that..., the setter thought and then opened his eyes.
"Hinata...", he said waiting for a response.
"Yeah?"
"Let's call this whole thing off", he said and Hinata was getting kind of nervous.
"W-what are you talking about?", he asked and Kageyama took a deep breath.
This is it..., he thought.
"The 'finding out' thing. I don't think it's necessary anymore", he said and Hinata was now confused.
"Why?", he asked.
"I started this because I wanted you to like me the way I like you. But it's not worth it. I don't want to do this anymore. Let's just forget about it", Kageyama said and turned to his side, his back facing Hinata.
Why does it make me mad and sad... this is weird. I cant believe I didn't figure out kageyama likes me..., he thought as he did the same as Kageyama.
"But why...", hinata asked once more and kageyama sighed.
"Because it's not worth it. And it's kind of ridiculous too. So let's just stop", he said.
"But why are you calling it out all of the sudden?", Hinata kept asking.
"I dont think it's fair okay!? I dont think it's fair for either of us. It doesn't even make sense why I started it", the other said, finally making Hinata stop asking questions.
Their backs faced each other. The two boys just stayed silent. It looked as if they were sleeping, but they were wide awake thinking about what had just happened.
It doesn't matter anymore. Just forget it... forget it..., kageyama thought as he closed his eyes and finally drifted off to sleep after an hour or two.
