The sun was bright and the sky was pure blue. Phoebe walked her way through Santorini, every glance filled with curiosity. At the next second, she felt her body tip over, grasping onto Salem who squeezed in her arms, gasping for a breath. She felt her head ache, as her body laid on the stone floor of the alley. Phoebe squinted her eyes as the dark figure that stood on top of her looked into her hazel colored eyes. She noticed that the figure's head hid the blazing sun from the sky. Suddenly, the figure stood up as she did the same. Once she looked up she noticed a boy looking the same age of him. At her first site the only thing she first noticed, was his dark colored eyes. In the sun they seemed a purple shade, which made her gaze even more into his eyes. His short black hair camouflaged against the dark shadows of the large trees. His boxer-styled swim suite had the mixings of blue and yellow. She noticed his thin pale skinned body. 'I wonder how it can be so white,' she thought to herself.
"You should watch where your going," he said coldly. Phoebe awoke from her gaze at him and looked up at his eyes once more. She stood up straight positioned and tried not to look like she was staring.
"I-I'm sorry," she said confusingly, she was still unsure of what else to say, this was the first person except her parents and Myrna that she had ever spoken to.
"Hey you!" a large man shouted as he ran behind the boy. His eyes met her gaze when they both glanced a the large man running.
"Oh crap," he muttered. Unwittingly he took Phoebe's hand, and started zooming off.
"Just follow me," he said running even faster. Phoebe only nodded, all these events happening at once, made her blank out for moment, before she went back to reality. They jumped behind the bushes, every breath as quiet as could be. phoebe gripped onto Salem that stood frozen in her arms, and felt her hand grasped by the boy. As they heard the men pass by them, the boy let go of Phoebe's hand and glanced his head up to see if anyone else was there.
"It's clear," he said sighing in relief. He slumped down and wiped his forehead.
"That was a close one," he murmured.
Phoebe looked at him for a moment, and noticed she didn't know what his name was. "Um, excuse me?" she said to him gently.
The boy looked up at her as if she had intruded him from a thought. "Yes?" he said annoyed.
Phoebe felt guilty, noticing his annoyed tone. "What's your name?" she asked him.
He looked at her for a moment, observing her intently. "I'm Rio," he said then added, "And you are?"
